I'm thinking about going on a raw food fast where I would only eat raw fruits and veggies and drink water. I would still take my multi-vitamin to make sure I get enough of everything. That fast would only be for 21 days and more of a way to strengthen my will power than to lose weight though I'm sure it would be a great detox for my body.
Any suggestions?
What toxins are you trying to get out of your body?
Detoxification isn't really my goal so I don't know what toxins I'm trying to get rid of. In lieu of a better way to say it, I'm testing my will power.
Ok, so you don't want to get rid of toxins (which is good, because my next question was "Do the raw foods you plan to eat or the water you will drink have any of those toxins in it, and if so, how will this help?")
So you want to test your will power. What about your will power needs testing? Are you a meat-craving fiend, and need to avoid chicken at all costs for a period of time to prove that you can? Are you addicted to milk and cheese (I am, don't be embarrassed.)... Is bread your nemesis? See where I'm going with this?
I'm just not clear what you hope to get out of this - any weight you lose could easily come back as soon as you start eating normally again (many people report that after trying a fast/cleanse/detox), so weight loss shouldn't be your goal, because there are better ways. By depriving yourself, you are more likely to backlash by the end, if not before, and eat more junk than usual. Not to mention it's really hard to get enough calories just from fruits and vegetables.
Why don't you set a goal to eat healthy for 21 days - that is going to do a lot more for you than cutting out so many types of food that are not only healthy, but provide needed nutrition, that pills cannot recreate.
Eating is my problem. I can't stop. I'm addicted to food, any type of food. I love healthy food, veggies, whole wheats, fruits but I also love chocolate and ice cream and hamburgers and french fries and since the latter is more readily available, I'll attack it when my mind says its hungry even if my body is not. I desperately try to eat healthy and stop eating around 8 o'clock at night but when I'm studying at 12am my body goes...okay, time to feed me and there's nothing available I go into food withdrawal. I can't function, I can't focus, all I can think about is eating.
Right now I don't really care about losing weight. I care about getting over my addiction. I was hoping that by forcing myself to eat only certain foods I would slowly lose the cravings for things that are bad for me.

Instead of going on a raw food fast, how about a clean eating challenge? Sticking to a plan of healthy food in moderate amounts takes as much willpower as a raw food fast, I can assure you, and does less harm to your body.
As for the multivitamins: your body won't be able to absorb fat-soluble vitamins during your fast, take that into consideration.

It is not addiction to eat when you are hungry. If you are still up at midnight studying, eat. Just make sure you have plenty of healthy options at arm's reach.
Your problem is not, as far as I can see, food addiction, but a bad plan. You should schedule your meals according to your daily activities - why establish 8 pm as the cut-off point when you are studying at night? You can eat at night, just make sure that you have small and low-cal snacks rather than full meals.
You are frustrated because you want to restrict your calories, but your body can't handle it at this point. Why not accept it and just establish a sensible, healthy eating plan which does not send your body into frenzy? Why not do that for 21 days?
I think the answer is in your last post. Make the wholesome foods more easily accessible than the junk you don't want to eat. Literally remove the things you don't want from your environment and replace them with the things you'd prefer. Wholegrains, lean meat/fish, vegetables and fruit are very filling and sustaining so get plenty throughout the day... spacing it out well with small meals and regular snacks. And should you feel peckish at 12am, if all you can turn to is healthy food it's really tough to binge on carrots and apples. :-)
If you share a house with people or if you're not in control of the foods around you, see if you can't at least get the hamburgers and fries hidden away out of sight. Best of luck

Unless your multi-vitamin has protein and fat in it, you aren't going to be getting enough of everything.

i was just about to say that.
Go for it, if you want to be eating 24/7.
You have to consume an insane amount of fruits and veggies to get your daily caloric intake...that and you'll spend a god awful amount of time on the toilet due to all the fiber.
Anorexia isn't condoned here and I believe that discussions on "fasts" are just a loophole around CC rules. "Cleanses" and "Fasts" are just fancy words for eating disorders and laxative abuse.
A balanced diet (think food pyramid) is the healthiest thing you can do for your body... and it is not easy for people to do, so don't think you would be taking the easy way out. It is a balanced diet that will actually keep you feeling clean, energized, and mentally healthy...not these weird fasts/diets.
Fasting will give you feelings of deprivation and lead to overeating in the longterm, but do what you want. Just be aware that all those fruits and veggies might bloat you and make you gassy. It hardly makes one feel refreshed.

Also be prepared for your bowels to move mountains.
But you know that once you start eating normal food again you're going to pack on a bunch of poundage right?
