Raw food and sprouting

I have recently started to increase the amount of raw food in my diet and I have a few questions for any of you more experienced raw foodists out there.

 First, I have started sprouting some grains and beans and have been pretty successful.  The one thing that is frustrating me is trying to seperate the unsprouted hard beans from the ready to eat ones.  I have almost broken a tooth on few mung beans.  What is the best time to seperate the little duds out?

 Second, I am looking for some suggestion on new things to sprout.  I have tried quinoa, winter wheat and mung beans so far and enjoy them all.  What is your favorite and how do you eat it?

 I know these are pretty obscure questions but I thought I would have the best chance getting an answer in this forum.  Thanks!

I've never done it personally, but my brother did for a while.

He used to sprout almonds...boy were they yummy.

Thanks for the link.  I went to the store and also went a little crazy. I bought chickpeas (for raw hummus), adzuki beans, buckwheat, oats, lentils and then cashews, almonds, pine nuts and sunflower seeds.  I also found alfalfa seeds!  Oh, and some dates...just cause they are tasty.  I think I am set for a while.

Total: $20 (five of that was almonds Yell)

hey the people on the veganfitness.net forum know a lot about raw foodism and sprouting! im starting to sprout and transition over to raw foodism, so its been helpful

That is a nice website, it has a lot of info all in once place.  I also like http://www.sproutpeople.com which sells seeds but also has a lot of info.  The one thing that I have discovered after much searching and thinking is using a normal mason jar with the lids that are two pieces.  Then I get some white tule from a fabric store or walmart.  I get two different "weaves" for different sized sprouts.  You can cut it into squares and screw it on with the outside lid ring.  It makes rinsing and draining super easy and it's way cheap (I got a yard each of two types and it was only 2 or so dollars).

I am trying chickpeas right now, we'll see how they turn out.
