Raw Foods Cleanse

Quote  |  Reply
Has anyone out there ever done a raw foods cleanse?  I was reading up on it and it sounds really quite do-able.  You can basically eat all the fresh (preferably organic) fruits and veggies you want and also raw nuts.  You can make homemade juices and also eat some sprouted beans.  My goal is to do this for at least two weeks.  I think I will have my nutritional bases covered by making sure I eat nuts for protein and fat, as well as avocados.  I am wondering if anyone has done this, liked it, hated it, and wants to give any food suggestions.

Thanks!  Happy Friday :-)

I think this is a wonderful way to give your system a break, detox and loose a little weight!  its a very healthy thing to do once in a while but maybe dont' think of it as a diet trick!!  use it as a way to reboot your system - you'll feel great after and will find that you can digest things easier and have more energy!

i did this a few times too.... it felt great to detox but this is not good for weight loss, you will end up gaining all the weight back anyway once you switch back to cooked processed foods... maybe not too much weight if you eat whole foods, slowly reintroduce them into your diet. Good luck! (raw almond butter is great-super creamy)
I just wanted to give an update.  I have now been doing the raw foods cleanse/diet for 10 days and have been averaging about 1500 calories and have been eating a very satisfying diet of fruits and veggies including lots of avocados and olives, and nuts and seeds.  So I have all my nutritional bases covered. It has inspired me to make a lot of fresh pico de gallo and guacamole to put on salads and dip my carrots and other veggies into.  I have already lost 4.5lbs and it has really been without any extra effort.  My exercise habits have stayed the same.  My goal is to continue this style of eating for the next few weeks and then about 3 oz of lean meats per day.  I though some of you may be interested in trying to switch it up a bit and lose extra lbs without much added effort.
well as long as you're enough enough cals (1500 sounds GOOD) and you're having fats and protein i think its good!
I dont like fad diets or not eating certain food grousp, i dont think its healthy, but this seems ok.
How about iron. Make sure you're getting enough cos even tho its in brocolli, you dont absorb it well without vitamin C
But 4 pounds in 10 days is pretty fast. Be careful.
I dont think i could do that. I'd rather be the same level of healthy for 2 years, than eat only raw foods for 2  months, then normal for after.
b ut thats just me. If it works for you go for it
Can you drink milk?
I have been allergic to milk since I was an infant so milk has never been an issue for me.  Because I don't drink it it actually is very strange to me that humans drink the milk meant for another mammals babies??  Odd to me although I know most don't look at it that way.
