I'm 15 (Just turned it Aug. 7) and over the last 2.5 weeks I lost 20 pounds. I didn't eat much (no more than 500) and when I did I felt horrible. I would throw up what ever I could and hate myself for it. I freaked out 2 days ago when I haddn't eaten for 1 1/2 days and then I had a brown out (where everything goes day for 2 or 3 seconds) It scared me and I had a plain corn on the cob for supper. That night I went on the Kids help Phone website and wrote them. I am still awaiting an answer. Vomiting is no fun and not eating sucks too. Today I tryed to break myself of that and ate like mad. And I couldn't handle it. I ran to the washroom and vomited as much as I could. Its horrible and I hate the feeling someones gonna hear me and worry, and I hate when vomit goews out my nose I HATE IT. BAsically I hate all of the behaviors. And 2 popular girls introduced me to not eating in grade 3! GRADE 3 . I introduced myself to self induced vomiting. Basicaly I want it to stop. But I told a counsillor 2 years ago and basically they ignored it cause Im overweight.

If you have seriously lost 20 lbs in the past two and a half weeks I really suggest you get some guidance. Not to be negative but I read your post and immediately became worried about you.

Come on girl!!! You need talk to your parents. That's  a serius problem and you need help now!!! I don't know why you start doing that but that it's not the rigth way to do it. I have problems whit that to 6 months ago I start to vomiting because in my crazy mind I think that if I do it that I can lose weigth quick but it;s not funny it's a dangerous play. Fortunaly I get help in time. Please get some help. That is not way to live just thinking went i gonna vomiting and be worried that nobody is gonna catch me doing that!!! That's suck!!!!!

Your 15 years old hon. You need to go to your parents. There is nothing that any of us can do to help you at this point.

That amount of weight loss in that short of a period is dangerous. You should check out the weight gain forum on this website, there are a lot of people on it who are recovering from eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia) who I think you'd find it very helpful to talk to. They can tell you how they began to recover, to change their mindset, and can warn you about the extreme dangers of purging etc.

500 calories per day is deathly low. You should never ever go below 1200 calories, and you probably need in excess of 2000 calories per day just to maintain healthy body function. As you purge and force yourself to lose weight through unnatural means, a downward spiral begins. You can damage your hands, and the back of your teeth, your throat, and your mouth, by forcing yourself to constantly vomit, because of the stomach acid you bring up. You begin to dehydrate yourself, and deplete yourself of electrolytes, which in turn eventually causes heart problems. You may eventually stop your period and can cause yourself to become infertile. You can cause calcium and other minerals to deplete from your bones, giving yourself premature osteoporosis, causing your bones to become brittle and thin and easily breakable. Your hair may begin falling out, your muscles become so atrophied you start collapsing... It's horrible.

Binging after you purge will not help your body or your mental frame of mind either. What you need to do is gradually increase your nutrient intake to normal levels. If eating makes you sick, have a few sips or spoonfuls, wait ten minutes, and have some more. Same with water. Do it all day, every day, gradually increasing amounts until your stomach can handle the food again. Your nausea may be caused by your self-starvation measures or may be psychological, but you should probably get checked by a doctor anyway to make sure there is no other underlying problem.

You need to find help, it's too bad you've been ignored. Like I said, check out the weight gain forum and talk to some people who are recovering/have recovered from anorexia nervosa and/or bulimia. They are very helpful. There are healthy ways to maintain a healthy wait - fasting, dieting, and purging are not among them.

Eating healthy non-processed foods, getting enough water, enough exercise, and maybe getting a colon cleanse are much better avenues to health and fitness than starving yourself and purging, which is a hellish path. Don't beat yourself up for what you do either, this is unhelpful to your state of mind. Just focus each day on recovering, increment by increment. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. May today be better than yesterday, and tomorrow better than today.

Please be aware that this website does not support pro-ana or undereater posts or eating patterns and those posts will be deleted/locked. Losing 20 lbs in two weeks is extremely unhealthy and most likely is not permanent.

As a teenager you need to eat no less than 1500 calories a day. Do you think you can try to do this from now on?

By eating so little over the past few weeks, you created this starve-binge cycle which will only perpetuate yo-yo dieting which leads to self-esteem issues, insecurity and health problems. It is a very unproductive, unhealthy and impermanent way to lose weight.

Eating a nutritionally balanced diet where you are full, but not overstuffed, on healthy items will cause you to lose weight and you can do so at a rate of 1-2 lbs per week. This means in a mere few months of healthy eating (but not starving) you could be where you want to be.

    I know you said you tried to speak to a counselor ... but can you talk to your parents? Or please talk to your counselor again or a trusted teacher and impress upon them how unwell you have been feeling lately and how much you are struggling.

    I'm over twice your age and lost 30 pounds eating about 1800 calories per day with moderate exercise.  If you eat a reasonably healthy diet, including whole grains (brown or wild rice or flax noodles, etc.), lots of fruits and veggies, lean protein and healthy fats, you will be able to eat enough 1500 calories for your age plus whatever you exercise, you will be able to lose ~1-2 lbs of fat per week.  The problem with very low calorie diets is that frequently your body breaks down muscle and organ tissues instead of discarding fat.
