I just reached my goal weight!

Quote  |  Reply

I started my diet using calorie count in April of last year at a weight of 214 pounds. I thought I would post my experience for others to see.

I set my goal weight to 170 pounds.  And in just four months I was weighing in at 171 pounds.

Unfortunately before I lost that last pound I went back to my old eating habbits and apparently I hadn't learned my lesson from the whole dieting experience; because as of March of this year I was back up to 195 pounds.

So I decided to get back on top of things and I started logging my foods again, and I am happy to say that as of this morning I have finally hit my goal weight of 170 pounds.

The girlfriend and I are going to open a bottle of wine tonight to celebrate (she has been dieting with me and also recently hit her goal weight).

Starting tomorrow I am going to up my calories a little bit and lose another 10 pounds, but at a slower pace this time.

And after all is said and done when I am at my new target weight, I am going to take the time to figure out what my maintenance calorie intake is, and learn to balance my diet around it.

25 pounds in 2 months, that was quite rapid weight loss. That's about 3 pounds per week or more, and it's recommended to only lose 1% per week, so 2 pounds per max for you. it is likely that you may have lost quite a bit of muscle mass and your metabolism might be slow as a result, so take it easy with the increase or you're likely to gain quite a bit back. congrats on meeting your goal! :)

Congratulations, and THANK YOU for sharing your success story.

Sometimes I feel like the CC sucess stories are all I have to help keep me going!

Yes you are correct all around. I was losing at the rate you stated, I have lost a decent amount of muscle mass, and my metabolism did slow down. I have increased my calories now to compensate for that so I will be losing at a slower rate on my way to my next goal.

I actually already increased my calorie intake about a week or two ago after I realized how quickly I was losing. I did gain back weight at first but I stuck with it and I started losing again and that brings me to today, down to 170. I used to do 1500 calories a day, and I increased that to 1860 because that is my BMR.

I plan to add in excersize soon, and I will eat more calories on those days to compensate.

Congrats!

I was 251 @ 5'6 and am now 171 lbs. I am about to up my calories, too. I think I am going to up them to about 2000/day. I workout a lot, though. Ultimately I would like to weigh 165, comsume 2400 calories a day, and workout for 45 mins a shot for five days a week plus strength training.

I am also concerned about muscle loss and am taking the tear myself down before buildomg myself up approach. I just wanted to be smaller fast. Now I want to add muscle and get my body fat % down.

Let me know how you make out!

Cheer!

that's really great that you're trying to correct this and get your body burning like a furnace!! congratulations..you are doing great and your mindset is A++. if you need any suggestions regarding diet and/or nutrition feel free to ask. i am no expert but i like to think myself knowledgeable on these matters.

GREAT WORK! :D I think it's so inspiring that so many people are able to make progress with CC - I personally have been logging my food regularly since Jan and have lost 7 kgs - but have lost 14 kgs since I started realizing what I ate and working out. It's such a revelation - changing your eating habits and working out slowly but surely will get you down to the reasonable goal weight you are targeting! Sounds so silly but it's taken me a long time to get here. Of course my luck, 3kgs away from my 60 kg goal, I find out I'm pregnant and the calorie intake has to be upped again! I'll pick up again next year. :D

Once again, congrats congrats congrats.
