Just reached my goal weight! Want to start a group for people like me who have reached their goal this week!

Hey I have just reached my goal weight. I am 5'2 and weighed 123lbs back in July. My goal was to reach 110lbs by my Bday (sept 22). Didn't quite make it, but I hit 108.5 today when I weighed. So I'm done. Now I need to maintain and learn how to stop counting calories and not gain the weight back. I think it would really help to start a group for people like me who have just reached their goal and need some accountability to help them maintain. Just to share ideas and tell each other what's working and what's not. If you're in just reply with your stats and anything else you want to add.

Here's mine

sarahgdyck - age 30, 5'2 - 108.5lb (goal 110lb)

Just checking in, my weight was 109.5 this morning, which is fine. I ate a lot yesterday because we went out for Indian Buffet. Who really knows what calories and fat lurk in all that vegetarian Indian food? Anyway it was all good! Then I went hiking later in the afternoon and ate almonds, dried fruit and a trail mix bar! And then dinner! It was all kind of social eating I suppose. Today I made some nice cleansing dal and have been taking it easy.

These days after I have a big eating day I really enjoy getting back on track the next day. It used to be that if I overate that would set me off on a flurry of bad eating. I think it's different now because: even when I eat more calories, or lots of calories, I make good choices. I didn't have any "fried" stuff at the buffet. I helped myself to a few serves of raw veggies and poppyseed coleslaw... So mentally I'm thinking, yes, I can eat more, it's ok, as long as I make wise choices.

Another thing is portion control. I was reading a thread about cereal and how small a serve was. I'm a small person, so there's absolutely no reason why one "serve" of anything shouldn't be enough... So I like to pay attention to that when I'm eating processed foods.

OK, enough of a rant. Maintaining is working, I haven't gained anything back and I'm enjoying my food. As enchantingimage might say I have a "good relationship" with food! And with exercise.
Great to hear things are moving along well for you maintaining.  I didn't doubt you for a minute.  You do have a good relationship with food and you know your limits.  Very happy figurethefat !
Hi Hollymama.  Wow!  You have really lost the weigt.  Congrats!!

I understand the surgery to remove the excess skin is major and very painful; however, no amount of exercise or cutting calories further will get rid of it.  Tough decision.

Hey guys!

I had a question for you all. I am .6 pounds to hitting my goal weight of 140. I was wondering if you all hit your goal weight and stuck rightttt there on it, or if you lost a little more to have some fluctuating room? I was thinking of working down to 135 just so I could have some wiggle room.

Whatcha all think?

I know im going to get the full body lift surgery which will totally knock more pounds off, but i dont know how long it'll take for me to pull that off. I'm kinda scared.

Hollymama, I'm right there with you. I lost 153 pounds so far, and only have about half a pound to hit my goal weight. Needless to say, my body is SHOT beyond shot. I'm going to do the surgery, I'm just afraid to bare all for a surgeon. Plus financially I dont know how much it will be monthly. PLUS i'd have to take offa work. PLUS I dont know when I'll have kids in my future. It's a lot to think about and consider.

Hi x17star17x !

*~*~ Congratulations ~*~*  You can officially be called a maintainer !!!

To answer your question, looking back, you'll notice that I have kept losing trying to find the right balance of calories.  I am now down to 115 pounds. It was a bit of a shock.  That broke my record of the lowest weight of my adult life. That is just me and what has happened with me.  Your body may be different.  I just have a feeling adjusting to new calories, you may find that you'll lose a couple - few more pounds.

Great to see your progress.  Awesome. : )
Hi star... From what I've read and from personal experience most people keep on losing, albeit slower, once they hit maintenance. So you will most likely continue to see the scale move lower when you start adding those extra calories, so I don't think you need to "diet" down to 135.

You have done such a wonderful job! What an accomplishment. Have you been eating just 1,200 calories a day for the whole dieting time? That takes alot of willpower!
Awwww how exciting! Today is the day I 'up' my calories. Woah. AMAZING. So cheers to this weeks 1300 calories! :)
Cheers star and enjoy !!!  Welcome to the "club".  : )
Yay! Thanks! Now I must go grub. I have lots of cals left :)
I guess after all of these months of eating healthy it's all a habit now. I've dropped down to 108, what's up with that? I guess I need to eat even more. I really like doing the exercise stuff, now that I'm thinner I don't lay around as much, seems like I have more energy.

It's kind of weird isn't it? I mean now I'm thin I can actually eat more! Or so it seems. Last night I enjoyed the 100-calorie mini popcorn bag for the first time. It's perfect really, a bit on the salty side, but a lovely portion size, just enough for one and you know what you're getting. I debated about having a second bag, afterall it's only 100 calories, but now, had a Tootsie Pop instead. I was watching a DVD...

I did work my arms yesterday with the dumbbells in hopes of toning up the back and upper arms.

How's everyone else going?
figurethefat: In two words confused and conflicted .... at the moment.  Just that kind of week, I guess.

I will agree with you on the not "laying around and being 'lazy'" and it seems like the energy has boosted up.  The time change has my body clock a bit out of whack, but managing.

On eating and increasing calories, my 16 year old son said to me 'ma, just have a candy bar ... it's no big deal, that will boost your calories up'.  Grrrrrrrr.

Great work with the weights.  I have to say I really enjoy free weights and I see and feel a difference.  You'll tone right up !
Hi everyone-

I guess I can start maintaining now, so I figured that I would join in and introduce myself. I joined CC back in July, weighing just under 190 pounds (at a shade under 5'10", 38 year old male). I had already lost 25 pounds at this point, but I wanted to lose another 25 (more or less). Once I got to about 170 pounds, I revised my weight goal to 160. The last five pounds (I'm currently at 163, depending on my sodium intake), as most of you might imagine, have been very difficult to shed. I was hoping to make it down to 160 by Thanksgiving, but given my trend in the last couple of weeks, it looks like I'm going to fall short of this goal.

I'm not disappointed, though. In fact, I am more than ready to move on to the maintenance phase. Why?

Because I was pleasantly surprised today when I had my bodyfat measured at the gym. I suspected that it was much lower than at the start of my latest weight-loss journey--my pant waist sizes have shrunk from 34/36 to 29/30 (depending on brand/cut), my face looks much thinner, and it looks like I am seeing abs for the first time in over 10 years, but I did not expect the number I got today--10.1%!!!

When I compare this to the 200 lbs/24.9% reading back in March, I see that out of the 37 pounds I have lost since the last time I had my BF tested, 33.3 pounds represents bodyfat lost, while only 3.7 pounds of it comes from lean body mass. Given this pleasant outcome, I am satisfied with my efforts (to say the least), and am ready to devote my efforts to weight maintenance. Losing those last 3 pounds is not important to me now.

Thanks for putting up with my rambling. I look forward to being a part of this group, and to sharing both success and struggles with each of you.
Great news on the Body Fat wrm2105.  I can see this is the time to maintain.  10% wow, even for a man that is awsome.
Welcome wrm. 10% bodyfat! That's fantastic. I've seen several posts about bodyfat of late and now I'm getting curious as to what mine is. I think it must be ok, but could be much better. Don't want to be "skinnyfat."

So what are you going to do differently now that your officially maintaining?
For starters, I'm going to look forward to eating more (just kidding).

But seriously, that's a very good question, figurethefat. In the past I have never been successful at the maintenance aspect of weight control, but that was because I viewed achieving a certain weight as a final goal. And I'm the type of person who thrives on reaching a final goal, so without something else to strive for, it's easy for me to revert back to my old ways.

What has been motivating for me is that I really got into long distance running as my sport of choice ths year (I started in the spring of 2006, but let up in the fall and winter, which led to me gaining 30 pounds during that time). I successfully ran a 50K race 2 weeks ago, and I hope to keep at it next year, with plans of running a spring 50K, a spring and fall marathon, and a fall 50 miler.

So from now on, my emphasis will be on performance-related nutrition, something that I didn't focus on this year (since I was so focused on weight loss).

I made goal today! Woo hoo.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Starting Weight: 294.4

Ending Weight: 139.8 (my goal was 140)

Total Lost: 154.6

oh, my dear you are being too modest hiding your post here in the Maintaining forum. I want to see it plastered all over the M~O~T~I~V~A~T~I~O~N forum. You rock!! Congratulations!!
