Just reached my goal weight! Want to start a group for people like me who have reached their goal this week!

Hey I have just reached my goal weight. I am 5'2 and weighed 123lbs back in July. My goal was to reach 110lbs by my Bday (sept 22). Didn't quite make it, but I hit 108.5 today when I weighed. So I'm done. Now I need to maintain and learn how to stop counting calories and not gain the weight back. I think it would really help to start a group for people like me who have just reached their goal and need some accountability to help them maintain. Just to share ideas and tell each other what's working and what's not. If you're in just reply with your stats and anything else you want to add.

Here's mine

sarahgdyck - age 30, 5'2 - 108.5lb (goal 110lb)

No longer in maintenance mode, at least for now. Weighed in today for the first time since just before Christmas (163.0 on 12/22)--as of today, I weigh 172.8. I'm not surprised, given my over-indulgence between Christmas and New Years--just a little disappointed.

It's back to stricter monitoring of food intake. Fortunately, after a planned two-week break from running, I return to training for a 50K (early April). I'll be back on the road tomorrow, thank goodness!

Hopefully, I'll be back to maintenance mode shortly (163-166 lbs).

@ wrm2105

Most of that will probably shed on it's own. You might have 5 pounds, but that will get offa you in a month. We still want you around the maintenance area. Hope to see you around anyway! :) You'll get back on track no doubt.

Hi Everybody!  I started counting calories last year around July and wanted to get down to 120 by October 5 for my high school reunion.  Oh, I started at 144 and I'm only 5'1".  I almost made it - got down to 126.  After the reunion, I pretty much stopped counting the calories but was still careful until the holidays, of course!  I ate so many sweets I was afraid to get on the scales.  After the holidays were over, I weighed myself and was so surprised to see 123; I weighed today and it was 119 and I'm still finishing up goodies from the holidays.  Anyway, being the hypochondriac that I am (not exactly!) I emailed my cousin who is a dietitian and asked her what she thought.  She said it takes a while for weight loss or gain to "catch up" with what you are presently eating.  I didn't know that!!  So before I continue to go on my merry way, eating everything sweet in sight, I think I'd better go back to counting before everything "catches up"!!  I thought you all might like to know this information.
hi timmychoo,

Wow - way to go on not gaining over the holidays.  I just hope it doesn't have a chance to catch uop with you; so it makes sense to count for you, just to be on the safe side, I guess.

I didn't know that peice of information your cousin the dietician gave you. Very interesting.  If you don't mind and have a moment, would you be able to ellaborate on what she said -?  I am very, very interested : )  Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words, x17star17x.

I'll make sure to check in periodically, hopefully with good news on my progress back to my desired weight range.

Hi everybody. I just made it to maintenance. I started dieting in June when I discovered I had high blood pressure and cholesterol. The weight loss stalled by November so I joined CC and lost the last 5 pounds (165 to 150, I’m 5’10”). Blood pressure and cholesterol are now normal!!! I wouldn’t mind going down to 148, but I want to maintain the healthy blood numbers and certainly don’t want to yo-yo up again. So I’m still counting and watching the green weight trend line.

Glad to be in the maintaining group!

I'm 5"1" and weight in (last i checked) at 110 lbs...goal weight being 105.  I was at 115 a few months ago before ever starting CC....I was looking for something to "keep me on track" and this site has been wonderful.

I do stationary biking 25 min. everyday....outdoor gardening and try to keep active but lead a somewhat sedentary life style.  Anyhow...think we're as close to "weight & height" twins as I've seen along with the age....you look great!!!

Hi playergirl

Just got your message.  Here is what my cousin wrote, verbatim:

"You may just be on a downward swing that hasn't yet stopped.  It takes awhile for the weight loss or gain to "catch up" to what you are presently eating.  Give it awhile and some of that holiday weight may begin to show up."

I will ask her if she can elaborate on the subject or provide a reference to look up.
Thanks timmychoo, I was curious.  The reason being, nurse told me on my weight loss, that as I am eating properly, my body is running effeciently and as such my weight and body is trending to a weight where my body wants to be.  I guess I always double guess.

Congrats phox50 and jaylynn!

Worm, things will work out for the best.
Thanks, playergirl--you are absolutely right.  Congrats to everyone on this thread for all your efforts with maintenance, especially with the holidays.

As x17star17x, "predicted" several days ago, some of the weight has already started to shed off, really without much effort. Went back to "business as usual"--counting calories, monitoring sodium, and regular gym workouts--nothing extreme or out of the ordinary. As of yesterday, I'm down to 168.6. I should be back at my goal range soon enough!!
Last time I posted I was 110.5, and that was about 2 weeks ago. Today I'm 112.5 and have been for a few days now. I've been eating ok, healthy stuff with a few indulgences. So overall if I'm not going to be obsessive about it maintenance is going ok.

I would like to think my body is just finding it's own set point and that's why I went down to 107 and bounced back over 110. It kind of fits with what timmychoo said about the weight catching up with the way we are eating.

As for exercise, I have been more consistent since my last post. Been riding my bike and also walking everyday. I think the weather will be good this weekend so I can have a nice long ride. I hope the next time I check in here I'll be a few pounds less :)

you guys r all awsome in my eyes i'm just starting, i've been reading you guys for a half an hour and wow what a -lot of great ideas for me to try.Smile

Maintenance is harder than losing!!!!  Wow, I totally agree NYCGirl!

5'8" 127# from 177# 11/2005.  I've been maintaining for 7 months, I think.  I did get way too low though (104#) and had to work through a bit of ED, still am.

I would like to get to know everyones approach at maintenance, including self control issues when you don't count/measure every little thing, it becomes such a part of you when you've been dieting for over 2 years.

My husband and I are trying to conceive.  I stopped having periods in October '07.  My low body fat and school schedule (training to be yoga instructor) was probably a large part of that.  I have seen a Nutritionist in the past for a period of 8 months during the tail end of my weight loss.  I learned an IMMENSE amount from her, but I no longer have medical insurance (yes, it is a HIGH priority for us, we hope to get it through new employment soon = baby).

I am also vegan and need to know my DRA of nutrients.  I'm using CC for this purpose.  It has been quite helpful, although I lost 3#'s this week.  That's not anything too weird though, I shuffle on either side of 5#'s.

If anyone has any info, jokes, recipes for these freakin awesome sugar free vegan oatmeal raisin cookies that I used to get in Union Square Green Market - I would be oh-so grateful!

:)

Congrats kristina311 and rgliptak !!!

This group and this thread is picking up now.  Very nice to see new names and sharing stories.
It sure is.
I'm still 112.5 although I have been a bit lower in the past 12 days. To save myself from gaining I've been concentrating on eating lots of vegetables and fruit everyday, and doing at least 45 minutes of exercise: walking or biking or both. Many days I get more than 45 minutes, that's just a minimum.

Anyway it's been pretty good. I've had a few pigouts at night but usually just healthy stuff like wholegrain crackers and hummus, or homemade granola with skim milk or yogurt. I did start logging food and activity again but have given it up the last few days--too much work! I know what I need to eat and what I shouldn't eat so there's not much point to logging it :)
Today I'm 110.5 so I feel like updating the maintenance scenario. Somedays I eat chocolate, cookies, pizza, potato salad, so much I feel sick and the next day I really just have to eat fruit and veggies and drink water. I'm not sure what triggers the big eating days, I know that buffets seem to be a weakness. All that food, already prepared, just waiting to be eaten.

I love the eating healthy days more than the big eating days. No way I want to go back to being 25 lbs over my preferred weight. Keeping consistent with daily exercise and water helps keep me on track too.

Every month that goes by I breathe a sigh of relief that I've been able to maintain my weight within a reasonable amount. Getting back into control the next day, or the day after so that the extra pounds don't come back. I wonder if I'll ever just be perfect and eat normally day after day, lots of healthy stuff, just the right amount, no over indulgence. So hard for me to "control" the bad stuff once it starts happening.
Hi figurethefat - Boy can I relate to everything you are saying!  You are definitely not alone!  There are just way to many temptations out there and so much a part of life revolves around food and eating.

I've been maintaining now since before Christmas and it really doesn't feel much different from dieting.  Constantly watching what I eat, sometimes feeling deprived, sometimes just blowing it - getting back on the wagon again, but there is no way I want to gain the weight back either.  It's too hard taking it off.  Its much easier having a bad day here or there.  And its so true, the healthy days feel so much more satisfying mentally and physically than the bad days.

Exercise is definitely the key for me as well.  Lifestyle changes - wanting to look good and feel good is a great motivator for me.   I think it takes a long time for this new us to sink in but I believe in the end if we really want it bad enough, we'll succeed!

Have a great day and I'll look for your posts!  :)
Ages seem to have passed since I posted here, but it's actually only 21 days! Today I was 113, so a bit higher than the last time I checked in. I've had some days that were not so good, but for the most part I've been happy with the daily diet.

I haven't been logging in regularly but if I think I've eaten something nutritious I'll post it in just to make sure I've got it right :) Also I use the recipe analyser to record successful recipes that I want to make again.

Once change I've made is switching over to eating oatmeal for breakfast instead of wheat toast with almond butter -- and I like it, it's easy and good plus I get to have it with milk. Also been concentrating on eating 3 fruits and 5 vegetable serves everyday. Incorporating these into my daily eating has helped me stay focussed on making the right choices.

Exercise is going well, the weather is warmer, I've been riding my bike more, and to work too now that it's staying lighter longer. My goal is to walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes every morning before even coming downstairs to have coffee. Although it doesn't always go according to schedule I usually get it done. For the first 5 to 10 minutes, while the legs are warming up, I use some little dumbbells to work my arms. I've been rowing 10 to 15 minutes 4 or 5 times a week and walking with the doggie as always. How's everyone else doing?

Don't know if I've ever posted to the maintenance group, but I'd love to join. With all the jumping up and down, 3 lbs each direction, I’m still at my goal weight 6 weeks later. Today I got a surprise. The first few weeks of maintaining I didn’t log. I started again last week. In the past, when I felt I went overboard eating, I just didn’t log. Today I decided to log just to see how crazy my eating was. I discovered I ate only 1700 calories and burned 2100. That included 2 small glasses of wine with dinner, a handful of raisins and hazelnuts, and a modest slice of apple pie. I looked the pie up and it was only 75 calories. That sounds like too little to me. (Of course, this wasn't all I ate, only the non-diet food).

So either I’m not overeating, just feeling uncertain, or I’m not counting right. Maybe I’ve learned portion control. I ate the same before, but had a second (or third) slice of pie without realizing it. People talk about maintaining on 2000 calories and I really don’t know how much food that is. I know I need to feel my way along here. Logging while maintaining is giving me a different picture than logging while losing.
