I've worked in the last flu-vaccine manufacturing facility in the USA before it was shut down about 8 years ago. It was owned at that time by King Pharm. The process by which flu vaccine is made is as follows. Chicken eggs are fertilized and incubated en,masse. An egg takes 21 days to become a chicken. A some point the virus is injected into the chicken embryo's brian, at 19days the "chicken" is harvested, the brain removed spun out in a cetrifuge and the virus infected chicken brain matter left is what is used to make the vaccine. It's pretty much straight infected chicken brain that they inject into you... The incuabators are huge, they hold thousands of eggs, if you've ever boiled eggs and that scum that forms when 1 or 2 break... that gunk is everywhere, because eggs break... It's just wrong in so many ways. So the vaccine is not some super high tech, magical thing. It's all about exposure, so after I worked there for a few months and our contract was up. I didn't get the flu for about 6 years. I still don't get it really badly when I do get it. I also don't over do it with hand sanitizers and I eat right, exercise and keep body. mind and spirit in tact which promotes a strong immune system. A guy that I worked with who lived through WWII at a work camp in Siberia told me that the farmers all lived and the city people all died, and not to avoid using the porta-jons or washing my hands in dirty water.

Sick. I think I just threw up in my mouth.

However, I never knew that. Thanks for the info however icky it may be :P

I'm not getting the H1N1 vaccine. Or the seasonal flu one.  I refuse to. I don't like shots and I don't get the flu all that often. I had the stomach flu really bad last year, although I don't even know if that was the flu? Anyways, the last time I really know I had the flu was when I was 8. I'm now16. I don't get it enough to worry with it, besides, I think our bodies need to fight off something once in a while to help build up immunity.
