Are You reading,"The Complete Beck diet forLife",copyright2008?????
Hi Friends,
I have been posting here the past few weeks and I am wondering if anyone has read or is now reading this book? I ask because I would like the added support of others on the same journey outlined in the book. This book has become such a helpful tool for me.
By the way, when I stumbled upon this website I used ibeckforme as my name to see if anyone reading the book would maybe "find me". My actual name is Patty. I am through part 2 of the book, but I have stumbled a little and have to go back and do a better job making my "distraction box". If anyone out there is reading Judith Beck's book please give me a shout out. I'd like some to share ideas as to what you are putting into your box. I would love this because I find it so inspiring to come here and hear other people ideas.
The post I started about the advantages to losing weight, why you want to lose the weight" has done so well and I have added to my own list many of the things we have in common. This idea came from the book.
One of the things she asks you to do early in the book, is to buy a deck of index cards and write all the advantages and reasons you want to lose weight. I read them every morning, sometimes before meals, and sometimes when I am having a hard time. It helps me alot, my list just keeps growing. I got lucky and found index cards that have holes and are bound together with two metal rings so it is like a mini roll- a- dex that I take with me everywhere. The other day if you drove past the McDonalds here in Milford, you would see me sitting in my car, eating a salad , drinking a sugar free tea, and reading my cards. They help so much.....soooo if anyone out there gets this book please let me know.
I would love a diet buddy to talk to about the stuff in the book. I hate to keep bringing it up here since most people don't know about it. I am afraid you will think I am getting some kind of kick back from it, which I am not, but wouldn't that be nice![]()
The book is fairly new. I had never heard about it until a month ago when I was reading Women's World Magazine and there was a lady's story about how she had lost a ton of weight using this book. The more I read, the more I felt it was for me. I went online and found a used copy and have not looked back. I think the author of the book sometimes writes articles in "O Magazine".
Thanks, Patty
I just put it on my wish list on amazon...I'll let you know when I get it. Thanks for telling us about it. ![]()
Christina,
I hope you like the book if you get it. If you are close to a Borders you might want to check it out and see if you like it before you invest. It has alot of "busy work" in it, some people I am not sure would want to do all the stuff it asks you, but I was so deperate to find something to help me.
I am sick to death of the weight and willing to do what it takes, however long it takes me. Give me a shout if you are on board. I'd love it!
Oh, one correction, it is Martha Beck that writes for "O Magazine", but I believe Oprah has interviewed Judith Beck.
Patty,
I'm Lynda from Texas..I'll get the book. I am sick of the weight too. And more than the physical and emotional part of being overweight, it's the fact that something that I should be able to control is controlling me.
It has taken over my entire adulthood. I am so mad at myself for wasting all this time. Time when I was young and could really get out and enjoy myself.
But, I can't go back so I am going to try and go full steam ahead.
Lynda,
So now you will be older when you can do more things. But please, start enjoying yourself now! Don't put it off for the day when you've "arrived".
I still think like that too quite a bit. But when I see someone else saying stuff like that a little bell goes off in my head and think....why aren't we having more fun now? OK.. I can't do the backbend anymore, but I sure can enjoy a movie, or a concert or a skinny dinner with a friend or visiting with my kids....etc.
Ok...I'm going to bed now and dream sweet dreams.
