Reading the scales!

Quote  |  Reply

Can someone explain to me how I could lose nearly 2lbs on the scales in just 2 days? I know I prob shouldn't let the scales have an impact on me but find it disheartening when I appear to have lost weight. It doesn't make sense!

water weight.  your weight can fluctuate 5-10 lbs in a day sometimes.

if your sodium level dropped or you stopped working out and used to do a lot of endurance exercise, you will be losing water weight.

I think it is better to just weigh one time a week. You are not a calculator so the body will vary due to many things. I don't think it should by 5-10 pounds but a few pounds it can. Look at the overall picture and a weight trend. If you need to gain then that movement etc.

for women, once a month may even be better.  With hormonal fluctuations, you can see drastic changes depending on your period.

Weighing at the same time of month, once a month, would be more accurate.  Or, only compare those same weeks from month to month.
