Ready to get back on the wagon...

Quote  |  Reply
In April we had a family crisis and I fell completely off the wagon, diet and exercise-wise. Luckily, I only gained a few lbs - I was 112 three weeks ago. This is because when I'm thoroughly stressed, I tend to react by losing my appetite.

But, without exercise, I have lost all tone that I had developed. And my diet has slid completely into the danger zone - too much junk, skipping breakfast, etc. I know to well that for me it's an easy leap from eating too little, to eating too much of the wrong stuff.

The crisis is past and now I have just returned from a two week vacation, which involved lots and lots of walking every day. That was such a good thing for me, as I had gotten quite squishy and lost a lot of my tone. The first few days were sooo hard, but by the end, I found my stamina and strength returning. I also got myself back in the breakfast habit (somewhat) starting each day with a bowl of cereal.

I jumped on the scale this morning and I am miraculously back down to 109! Yeah!!!!

BUT I have to keep this up. It's not about losing weight - I want to maintain right about here. No higher than 110, but also no lower than 105 (I don't like that weight on me). Mostly, it's about regaining fitness and healthy eating habits.

I have allowed myself a few days of lounging and lazing to recover from jetlag, but now I have to GET MY BUTT OUT and into the sunshine and take a walk. Every day, no exceptions!!! Hopefully I can work from there, back into running again.

And I need to get MY BUTT OUT to the grocery store to stock up on healthy foods too!!

Please help me keep motivated and hold me accountable!!!

Writing this post got me motivated - I just did a 30 minute power walk. Yeah me!
Hey - good for you!  Isn't it amazing what happens when we actually write down what we need to do instead of just talk about it needing to happen?
How long do you realistically think it will take before you can start running again?   (I think you should put the date on the calendar!)
I've been too busy to come back here, but I have kept up with the walking - every day except yesterday. And on Wednesday, I managed to run half of my usual route!

Diet is still not quite back on track, but I'm being a bit more careful watching portions, etc. And the tomatoes are finally coming in - so this weekend I'm making a huge batch of gazpacho!!!
Wow- I am impressed.  You've gotten back to running so soon!  Way to go.   Enjoy the rest of the summer (and the tomatoes...)
