Ready to gain

Quote  |  Reply

At 5'9 and 103lbs I am freezing and miserable and tired. I've lost my period and even I think that I look gaunt now. So I've resolved to gain back some much needed curves. I'm not sure how long it will take but I want to do this properly and without developing any kind of binge eating problem. I truly think that despite my disordered eating of the past I'm ready to do this. Wish me luck!

the BEST of luck to you i really hope you gain soon

much love xxxxx

Heya.

I was recently in a similar situation to you, I was about 1.5 stone underweight and was doing quite a physical job which i had to leave. I've put on 1 stone and i can't tell you how healthy i feel! It's easy to fall into bad eating patterns that will help you put the weight on but wont pay off in the long term. I recomend lots of fatty avacados, some flax seed oil on salads, roast vegetables in olive oil instead of boiling them.

Extra carbohydrates are good for weight gain but dont go for processed ones like white rice and bread. Especially not bread or anything with excessive yeast content.

It can be quite expensive but i recomend going to see a nutritonalist. They can help you choose the foods that are going to make you feel most healthy. Watch out for lots of the information on the internet cos it is often tailored for weight loss.

I think they say a good guide is a gain of 1-2lbs a week which is an excess of roughly 500-1000 calories a day.

Good luck and let me know how it goe

:)

Good luck! I just started eating "normally" the past few days and already don't feel cold all the time. All the best and if you need any support let me know! :)

Thanks guys! I don't think I'll go see a nutritionist, but I intend on eating lots of healthy fats, wholegrains and lean meats especially. I won't be eating lots of junk food because I don't want to develop bad habits.

weight gain really doesn't necessitate hershey bars and nutella.  it's healthy, i believe, to incorporate "fear foods" into your diet (ice cream, chocolate, cookies, pizza), but it's definitely not suggested to make them staples at your every meal.

breakfast can be a 3 egg omlette w/2 slices of cheddar cheese, 2 pieces of buttered toast and jam and apple sauce and a glass of milk.  snack can be a smoothie (oatmeal and milk and berries and ice and protein powder) or granola/cereal w/yogurt or milk.  lunch can be baked tofu w/sauteed mushrooms and couscous or chicken salad on bread along with a soup like split pea or italian wedding.  snack can be dried fruit with nuts and soy crisps.  dinner can be roasted chicken thighs in a wine/cream sauce w/mashed potatoes, gravy, stir-fried vegetables.  and for dessert you can have berries w/whipped cream or a slice of cake.  good luck!

Great job for deciding on gaining weight. I would think about taking a multi-vitamin to. To help replenish your vitamins you lost. You have a great idea by eating healthy foods to gain the weight. Good luck.

Way to go curvesaregood!!  You've made it to the most important step to gaining... recognizing that you want to change!

You can do it!!  Best of luck!  I'm currently trying to gain as well, so I can feel you pain.  If you need any support, write about it - it really helps! :)
