I am reasonably thin everywhere apart from my tummy...why is this??!!
I am reasonably thin on my arms, legs etc but i am quite pot bellied.. why is this? What can i do to loose it? I am trying to eat less calories and i own a cross trainer so i use that several times a week.
Sometimes that's just the way we're built. There are miles of intestines and several vital organs all crammed into the area between your breastbone and your pelvis.... if it sticks out a little that's probably to be expected and not at all unnatural or unattractive.
Exercise is always useful. If you're not actually overweight, don't cut your calories. Eat good quality, natural wholefoods and reduce your salt intake to avoid the possibility of fluid retention instead.
Jane always has great ideas!! On top of that, try doing exercises specifically designed to work on your core muscles. Your lower back, your upper and lower abs etc. You should find after a month or two that your tummy begins to tone up and flatten up from firmer musculature. Don't confuse that with spot weight loss though, you can't target weight loss in your midsection by working your abs, just firm and tone everything to look better. Once you've done that, you'll have a truer picture of your belly and whether or not you want to lose more weight to make is smaller. You might find it unneccesary.
I had another thought..... posture. Going to sound like an old ballet mistress here but make sure when you sit and stand you do so with a straight back and shoulders, chin up etc. When your shoulders are rounded or if you stoop the natural result is that your stomach looks more prominent.
That's like me! I always have this bloated belly.
I think I look exactly like one of those Madame Alexander dolls :(
Ok look I have had a pancake flat tummy and a tummy with a little paunch and the little paunch looks so much cuter, healthier and attractive (ask my hubby)! I swear it does!!!!
gi janes first post makes so much common sense right?
My mom has that problem, too. She's thin but she has a pot. I think it has to do with body-types, too. My mom's is apple shaped.
I don't get as much potbelly, but I still have one. I'm a slightly overweight pear-shape. Most people with their main problem being a belly are usually apple-shaped or banana shaped...lol
I have the same problem. Total-body strength training 3x a week has been helping.
lately my stomach has been like that. i havent worked out in a really long time... my theory is that if u have no stomach muscles there is nothing to hold it in. so start doing lots of crunches and build you stomach muscles up. even if you dont get abs at least your stomach will be strong enough to stay in place and not pop out.
