An interesting article here: http://esciencenews.com/articles/2009/10/26/m oderate.amounts.protein.meal.found.best.build ing.muscle promoting spreading out your protein intake in smaller doses over the whole day.

Interesting research that seems to lend more support to what strength trainees, particular bodybuilders, have been saying for years. BB's tend have very specific timings and types of proteins (fast vs slow absorb) that they take at particular times of the day to avoid catabolic states and promote anabolic states. I think they often go a little overboard but this does strengthen some of those arguments.

Makes sense!!! Thanks for sharing! Laughing

Interesting article. Thanks for sharing!

I thought it was obvious consuming too much of a nutrient ended up in urine...?

Also, people I've come across who consume lots of protein for training tend to grow hair and nails faster than usual. I suppose there is no perfect study.

Nah - Dr. Lonnie Lowery, president of the American society of Exercise Physiologist and a competitive bodybuilder is engaged in a whole bunch of interesting protein research in his lab at the moment; he had a nice interview posted over on T-nation about that.

The study he's referencing used a lot finer gradation in their tests, and the absorbtion cutoff for egg protein at least appears to be around 20g.

Since egg is the reference standard for biological value and is defined as having a BV of 100 (actually, about 95-96% of the protein in cooked egg gets absorbed, so you can have a BV of more than 100. Whey with Aminogen enzyme has 104. But I digress....) - so I wouldn't be surprised if the upshot was that you'd find a cutoff point for the amount of protein varies with the BV of your protein source.

T-nation varies wildly in quality and unfortunately it's been having a real downslope lately with a lot of training articles written by people who should go back to school before they open their mouths in public, but Lowery is on the list of people worth listening to.

Melkor, those cookies were worth the price of admission. I'm going to try a batch of those over the weekend and see how it goes because it has to beat a shake all the time.
