I have been reading some older post and have read that people can actually put in a recipe and it will convert it for you. I am wondering if this is true and if so where would I find it. Thanks.

Convert it to what?

If you mean that CC will calculate the nutritional content, calories etc., yes this is true.  Full instructions are on the recipe analyser.  Click the Foods tab, and then New Recipe.  Most queries are already answered in the Recipe's forum, so that is worth a search.  It's a great tool.

Thank you very much this is what I was looking for. I have been just putting all ingredents into my daily tracker. This is so much easier.

Wow.. i saw this post, found the tool.. and i cant believe that i have been here for two months and all the time i have been just entering everything off the top of my head trying to measure everything on my plate.. this will be so much easier..

I'm gonna usurp the thread for a sec....I read on another recipe thread that you can alter which ingredients CC uses in it's calorie count for your recipe.  My question is how?

Hi,

I think what you are asking to do is ensure that specific ingredients are used in the recipe calculation and not generic, or the ones CC assumes you are using.

Open a  second CC tab in your browser and keep your recipe page open in the first tab.  In your second tab, find the specific ingredient you want in the food database and click on it.  When that page opens, look at the address bar and at the end of the URL address it you will see a number. Copy and paste this number back into your recipe and enclose in square brackets.  For example your recipe might now read:

20g [16098] smooth peanut butter.

I hope that helps,

Ax

Ah! Yes that does help, thank you!  I had been told about the ID number for the food but not where to put it.  So let's say I have:

1 lb ground beef, 90/10 and it gives me the "top sirloin" junk....

I go and find the 90%lean, 10% fat ground beef crumbles page and then my recipe will read:

16 oz [xxxxx] ground beef 90/10

Is that correct?

That's exactly right - use the number you find at the end of the URL for the '90%lean, 10% fat ground beef crumbles'.

There are further instructions in the FAQ section also,

Ax
