I recently bought some cottage cheese to increase the amount of protein in my diet... I heard it was good for that.  I have a lot of problems with eating foods with weird textures.  I mixed it with some mixed berry jam, but I couldn't get over how it looked like puke.

Does anyone have any good recipes that I can make to use up the extra cottage cheese?

There was a good post on this a week or two ago, but I can't find it.

I like cottage cheese, I like the flavour, but like you I HATE the texture... so I put it in the blender to make it all smooth!  I like using it for dips for carrots and stuff.

I also made up a dessert, which tasted a lot like cheesecake, it had frozen boysenberries, and a little bit of Weight Watchers chocolate mousse mix all blended together and chilled, it was quite good...
A really simple recipe, but good; just take some bananas and mash them up- eat it with the cottage cheese after mixing them together thoroughly.

It's actually delicious! ^^
Cottage cheese + salsa + tortilla = mmmm
Someone really smart once suggested using cottege cheese instead of mayo in tuna sandwiches/wraps..
You can also go under search, recipes, and enter cottege cheese. It comes up with a bunch of ideas.
My friend makes lasagna with cottage cheese instead of ricotta.

My fav way to eat cottage cheese is with pineapple chunks. Mmm. But, then, I don't mind the texture. =)
I usually eat it with black pepper and onion flakes.   Mixing it with sweet like fruit made me gag.
cottage cheese mixed w/Yogurt! (Dannon Fit & Light is the best for low calorie). Tastes alot like Cheese cake! So good. You can blend in the blender as suggested earlier to smooth out the texture a bit.
i make lasagna with it... and i put it in quesidillas ... i also smooth it out and mix it with honey and dip apples and bananas in it.
If you take annah's suggestion and blend it smooth, it makes a great topping for a baked potato.

If your cottage cheese is the low-fat variety, this is fewer calories than sour cream.
for the suggestion about mixing it with yogrt and it tasting like cheesecake.. do you put it in the fridge or the freezer beforehand?? cheescake is my HUGE weakness and i am always looking for low cal ways to eat it.
You made me laugh with the puke thing!!  I have been told that if you rinse the milk off of it, it will be more like cheese to you??  You could try that - I just eat it with fruit but not IN my fruit.  Good luck!!
This this dip...

Horseradish Dip:  mix cottage cheese (preferably the small curd type) with horseradish to taste (about 2-3 tbsp. per 16 oz. container)... splash of worchester sauce (flavors and darkens it a bit)... and a splash of tabasco sauce... and for serving at a party, sprinkle with chopped parsley

used to eat this dip with potato chips... but now eat it with raw veggies...
Line a strainer with a coffee filter and place it over a bowl.  Dump in a container of cottage cheese.  Cover with plastic wrap.  Put the whole thing, strainer and all, into the refrigerator over night.  In the morning, unmold your cheese.  If you want it firmer.  Wrap the coffee filter around your drained cheese and put it back in the strainer over an empty bowl.  Put a weight on top, like a plate and a can of food.  Refrigerate over night again and you will get a little round mold of cheese that you can crumble in salad.

Cottage cheese is just curds and whey.  All cheese is made from the curds.  All you have to do is drain it and press it and there you are.
this is such good a great thread. i looooove cottage cheese so much.

my mom makes these tacos. they're cottage cheese, jack cheese, bacon and avocado. i'm sure they're absolutely awful for you, but maybe there's a way to adapt them?
I love cottage cheese. I actually have a cottage cheese cook book with all cottage cheese recipes mmmm! The best thing is you can buy fat free cottage cheese and make almost any of the recipes low fat, everything from sauces to desserts. My favorite is alfredo sauce, wow its the best. And especially if you don't like the texture of it because this recipe blends it all up!...here you go...
1 cup cottage cheese (I use fat free)
1 cup low-fat milk (I use soy milk)
1 egg (or 1/4 cup whites)
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper (I LOVE Pepper! so I always add extra)
2 tablespoons butter (margarine works too)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (low-fat works too)

In blender, combine cottage cheese, milk, egg and pepper. Puree until smooth. In small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add puree and bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Stir in parmesan cheese.

You can use this for pasta, veggies etc. You can always add more spice too. I add fresh garlic or garlic powder, onion powder, basil, basic italian seasonings all work. I have tons more cottage cheese recipes, hehe. Good luck.

re those tacos with cottage cheese... they sound wonderful and not too bad if: the cottage cheese is lowfat... try Morningstar Farm's veggie bacon instead of regular bacon... 2 slices of avocado (it's high in the right kind of fat and very high in vitamins)... a small slice lowfat jack cheese... now, wrap it all up in a small whole wheat soft tortilla (not a fried taco shell)... and you've got the healthy alternative with the flavors you crave...

I'm the same way about texture. I eat the lowfat as it has more taste than the nonfat. But I will eat it with cucumber, tomato or celery slices. That way there is some firmness to it.
