A "My Recipes" question...
I have several recipes that I use frequently, and have entered into My Recipes, but don't always eat the same amount. When I try to change the serving size as I enter it into the food log, none of the values (ie calories, fat, fiber, etc) change with it. Is there something I'm missing, or is the site not capable of changing portion sizes of recipes as they are entered into the food log?
I was curious about this one too so I started fiddling with my recipes and discovered that when you say Add it to my Food Log and that huge list comes up, just change the weight in one of the first boxes up there. It will adjust to what the food weighs and the calories contained. When you go back to the recipe, it will be listed as the original serving size. So, in other words, the original serving size.
Boy, I need to get out more! :)
I've tried changing the weight when I add it to my food log, but it comes out in my journal as the same number of calories, just a different weight. I have the same problem if I try to add a food again (say the spaghetti sauce I made last night).
Your right! I didn't even think about double checking the calorie amount. Now, the only way (I think) to adjust the calories is to manually go in and put in the calories on that same page. That means if you eat half of a serving, then divide the calories by half. A third by a third and so forth. (Personally, I would just work with the easier divisions that I can do in my head, not so frustrating that way!)
All I can say is, thank goodness my DH is a CPA and loves numbers. Everytime I ask him a numbers question he takes it on as a challenge. I am waaaay to lazy to do this stuff on my own.
Thanks for pointing the calorie thing out, I never would have noticed!
Hmm. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something before I wrote a suggestion to CC to add that capability.
Thanks for your help, leslazz.
Up until this morning, you could just create a tag for 100 grams of the item (you'd have to calculate that bit yourself, though), then when you enter the item select 'Values per 100g' and then change the value in the 'weight' field and CC would do the rest of the math. Last night's updates eliminated this feature, though. Hopefully they will switch it back to the way it was or just give us an easy way to adjust portion sizes!
