I have a sunbeam scale - the battery-powered kind that you need to tap with your foot. I can step on the machine and get one reading, and one minute later have a completely different number! Could anyone recommend a reasonbly-priced (not super cheap) and reliable scale?

I am anti-scale, only when I'm down a couple of clothes sizes will I get on a scale, I find numbers too depressing sometimes. When I was in really good shape I was a size six and that is my goal, to get back in shape, eat healthier and measure my progress by how my clothes fit and what size I'm wearing. I have some really cute clothes that I simply can't wear right now....
Anyway, sorry, I didn't help much w/your question! LOL

I traded my old bathroom scale for a new digital one. I have the same problem. It get so many different readings. I can drop 4 pounds depending on where I am in the kitchen. I want my 7 dollar bathroom scale back...
I bought one for ten bucks at Wal Mart-it weighed me the same as the doctor's office, so I figure it's as accurate as I'm gonna get. ;)
I have one of those non-digital ones with the large dial and that little red pointer that evily refuses to point to the number I want to see! It's fairly durable too and on more than one occasion I've wanted to test it's durability by pitching it out the window and running over it a few times with my car.
The tape measure, however, is my friend.
lol Seriously though, I think the old fashioned scales are more accurate than the digital ones. And the most accurate kind of all is the one in your doctor's office.

I use an inexpensive model Tanita digital scale. You do have to tap it to turn it on. It seems accurate to me. You do have to place it on a hard, level surface, not on a rug or carpet, and it's best not to move it around. I don't feel the need for one of the fancy models that measure your body fat, BMI and so on.

I use the Mall scale with a print out. I dont know if its accurate but as long as its consistent..I dont care if its 10 lbs heavy or 10lbs light According to it I have lost 35lbs!! I weight 145lbs but it could be 155 or 135 for all I care I still have lost 35lbs!! I love to look through the print outs and see how they drop for 180 down slowly and surely..Im getting a frame for my 125lb one!!
I thought I was the only one that got those STUPID readings...what helped me was finding a specific spot on the scale surface to stand on and then the readings started to become more closely related. Guess that will have to work until I can find one I know will be reliable...like the one at the Dr's office!
hi
we bought a digital. at first it ROYALLY sucked , until i started weighing inanimate objects, and found if you put it on a flat hard surface and stand in the middle of the scale, it was in fact accurate to one tenth of a pound.
one time i had to go pee SO BAD, i first weighed myself, went, then weighed myself afterwards .
I had lost 1.4 pounds.......lol ...............drink that water!!!

I tried out the digital scales at the store I work at (it's similar to Bed Bath and Beyond)-five digital scales.
Every single one gave me a different number-none of which were even close to the one my scale at home(that agreed with my doctor's office scale).
I'll keep my ten dollar jobbie. lol
