Usually i just exericse of my elliptical for 30-40min a day, which is a great cardio workout and i am seeing results in my bum and thighs. I do get really bored with the same thing day in and day out so i need an exercise plan (that does not require going to the gym).

I recently started strength training for my abs and lower back. I do it for 15min 3-4 time a week. Should i be doing more and focus on my whole body as well? If i upped my strength training to 20-25min a day, does that mean i can cut back my cardio (i.e elliptical) or ditch it all together some days?

I also want to do some weight training at home, just a little. I have dumbells, starting at 2lbs, working up to small bars with added weight plates. But i do not know any "routines". How long i.e minutes should i weight train for?

Please help as i am starting to hate my elliptical!

Don't know much about weight training; but you could try this site for some ideas about different exercises.

Hope it helps!

1. Full body workout will be much more beneficial than trying to focus on particular areas, so yes to that.

2. If you up your strength training, you can by all means cut back on cardio, just make sure you are maintaining a good deficit.

3. Check out New Rules of Lifting For Women (on amazon and in most bookstores) for lots of good information plus routines that will surely help you.

Thank you. I checked out some sites with good workouts i can do, i never thought about that. And i am going hunting for that book at the shops next week ;)
