Recording in the weight log during that time of the month.

Quote  |  Reply

Ladies,

With our weight fluctuating so much during our period, how do you manage if you are logging in every day?  Do you continue despite it or don't record for how many ever days you're fluctuating?  I don't want my water gain to make my log/trend go crazy. Can we choose NOT to log like 5 or 6 days without messing up the log?

Thanks for any answers

I only log in my food and activity count every day.  The weight I never do daily.  Roughly 3-4 days before the time of the month, during and one day after I refuse to weigh in.  I consider this "the break from the scale time."

I only weigh in two days out of the month on average.  I like having "real results" to smile at each time.Smile

I just log my weight anyway.  Usually my weight is above the trend line for a few days, but it goes back to normal within a few days to a week.  It just means that my long term trend line has occasional blips rather than being a straight line. I also always make a note in the "Comments" field of when my period started and ended so that I have a record.

I log it anyway, that way if I ever do give in in to cravings I'll be able to look back and tell how much is water weight and how much is I ate a tub of ice cream because i had cramps and I felt rubbish weight.

I cheat CC. I only log weight if it goes lower than the previous weight!!!

I log it daily into excel though and take that average, and yes, I log when i have my time. THis time it went up 5lbs and I'm back down 3 of them.

I do this as well.  I like being able to pinpointing the daily water fluctuations.  Keeps me sane (less likely to freak out when I go up a lb since I know it's just water!)  I just make sure to note in the "comments" that I it was my period week...also helps to keep track of how much you usually go up by during TTOM (for me, it's about 3 lb)

Out of curiosity, what happens when you don't log for a few days?  Does it go flat line for those days?  Like for days when you're not able to log due to traveling or what not. I will plan to log for TTOM as it seems to be a good idea for future reference.  But I'll be traveling pretty soon and don't want to carry my laptop.

nothing. It draws the line by points that are on it. It will only go to the last point until you add a new one.

When I was gone for about days, it simply had a space where it drew a line from the last entry to the first one back.  It made the trendline look a little funny, but since I noted "Back from Vacation" in my weightlog, when I look back I can see why.

I do the same thing for TTOM.  I just note "Period Start" when I enter in my weight, so I can account for a bit of "craziness" in my trend line.

Great, thanks all.  Your advice and shared knowledge is ALWAYS appreciated!

I try to log everyday.   It just depends how it effects you!  If it is too much of a downer, then only weigh every week or every other week.  You really need to pay attention to the trend line.   That should consistently be going down.  It calculates whether you are loosing or gaining over the long term.   The more you weigh, the more your weigth will fluctuate from day to day.   Someone 200 pounds could easily fluctuate  a couple pounds each day.  That is be 200 one day, 203 the next and 197 the third.   The trend at that point would say 200 across the board.   If over three days time, the scale shows, 200, 196, 201.  The trend would be going down, that is, weight loss is occurring.

So, if you can handle seeing the weight flutaution, put it all in.  If it bohers syou, just record once a week, once every two weeks, or only when the weight is the same or lower than the previous entry.
