How to recover from a relapse easily?
I need a little help/advice. I've been in anorexia/bulimia recovery for quite some time but this week has gone down hill for me. I don't want to go into detail about my relapse because it won't make a difference now, but what I do want is any advice other ED recoverers have on how to get out of the relapse cycle before it gets any worse. It seems that one relapse day turns into two, then three, then four, then a week! It's like once I'm in, I find it really difficult to just "get back on track" the next day. It's much easier said than done. Like I'll have a binge relapse and then try really hard to just forget about it and get back on track the next day WITHOUT compensating, but then the fat feeling (bloat) makes me feel really guilty and I end up compensating in one of two ways...which leads to another binge because "what the heck, I already messed up." It's stupid because I waste about a week in a relapse cycle rather than a day because I keep on trying to compensate for it and make it worse. I then realize this and surrender in a way and THEN get back on track, but I wish I could just do it right away. Sorry for the long post, but anyone have any ideas that might help me out. I'm having a rough week and I don't like hitting rock bottom like this.
Just stop right now and go back to your meal plan with whatever your next meal or snack is. What you've done you cannot undo so just hop back on the wagon again, that's what will help you in the long run.

Thanks, but that's not really the reply I was looking for. Like I said, it's much easier said than done. Right now I am back on track, but it's taken me about a week or so. I just wanted to know if anyone whose had experience with this has found a way to recover quickly from the relapse cycle.
I'm not a good one to really speak as I am in a relapse and will be heading into PHP on monday....
However, I think slips should be treated agressively by doing the very next right thing, i.e., eat your next meal/snack and talk to a trusted support about it immediately.
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
