I am a recovered anorexic, but now I have to lose about 70 lbs. What is the safest way to go about weight loss without taking it too far?
Answer
I don’t like restrictive diets for anorexics in recovery because dieting can trigger eating disordered thoughts and behaviors. I prefer the Intuitive Eating method of weight control where you regulate your intake around hunger and satiety signals and decide what and how munch to eat on a case-by-case basis. When people correctly work Intuitive Eating, their diets seem to naturally level off at their maintenance calorie requirements. For you, it takes 1900 calories a day to maintain 150 lb at a light activity level. If you want to lose weight more quickly, boost your aerobic exercise to 45-60 minutes a day.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
Take the Diet Profile Test and learn to avoid the pitfalls and self-sabotage that often come with your personal profile.
