Red Bull-----10 calories :)

Quote  |  Reply
Hello everyone,

Let me start by sayin that i love red bull in the morning, it gets me going and starts my day.

So i have a question  how do does everyone feel about the sugar free red bull that has only 10 calories.

Would it be "bad" to have one some mornings to jump start your day?

I mean it is only 10 calories, so how bad could it be right?

Well I would appriciate everyones thought on this..

Thank you for taking ur time.

Depends what you are trying to achieve. If you want to lose weight then go for it you can have 150 cans a day and still be within your limits. If on the other hand you want to get healthier pumping yourself full of chemicals, pretending to be sugar then perhaps this isnt the best way to go. The reason theres only 10 cals is because everything is fake, man made crap, with no benefits what so ever.

If you want the occassional diet soda, enjoy it but drinking it daily cant be helping your insides.
I did an experiment on chick embryos by injecting red bull into the embroys....which I'm definitely not proud of, it was totally against my ethics but it was a matter of pass/ fail the class. Anyway, about 3/4 of the chicks died prematurely. The other 1/4 of them ended up not being able to walk or stand upright because their brains did not develop enough to keep their heads up. Their feet were turned in so they kept falling over and they couldn't be touched or they freaked out. If this can kill embryos and affect brain function, I would think a little more about how red bull could be affecting you.

 What was your control group?

that's a sad experiment...:(
Any of those 'energy drinks' tear up my stomach. ESPECIALLY if it's sugarfree. I think ultimately it's up to you but I personally see coffee or tea as a better choice. I drink a lot of tea throughout the day.
Well comparing an embryo to a grown human isn't really the same thing, I'm sure if you inject just about anything into them that they'll die or get messed up. True it's not something I would want to drink everyday, doesn't seem 'healthy' but is it any worse than pop/soda? I guess I would compare the ingredients of regular and sugar free Red Bull and see if you think it looks ok.

thanks guys all of you did a wonderful job of helpin me out!!!! Thank again..greatly appriciate it!!!

i'm guessing it uses artificial sweeteners like diet soda, right?

well if you did your research you'd see that the artificial stuff turns to fermaldahyde in your body which literally surrounds your fat cells and preserves them, preventing you from burning off fat.

so diet drinks actually do exactly the opposite of what you'd think--they make it HARDER to lose weight.

you'd be better off drinking coffee or green tea to get your jolt. studies show that relatively small amounts of caffeine improves your metabolism and helps you think better (well thats an obvious one haha) so try drinking that in the morning instead.

I just can't deal with with Red Bull at all.  It tastes like...well, like something awful.  Coffee is the way to go!  A little pick-me-up and none of the carbonation- which can be really nasty in the morning.

mmmmm yess

i'm a caffeine addict, sadly ): i'm trying to cut down on my coffee intake, i've gotten from 10 cups daily to 3 (: i always drink it black, can't have it any other way.

besides coffee and the occasional green tea i loveeee monster drinks but i never drink them. i'm trying to stop drinking my calories.

I used to drink a sugar free redbull everyday for months. It was great for me because I didn't like coffee at the time and it gave me energy to stay tuned into my classes which were extra early and extra boring. But the thing about energy drinks is they make you feel energized for a few hours and then you crash. Everyday after school I'd pass out for hours, then wake up, exercise, do homework and struggle to get back to sleep for a couple more hours before repeating the whole cycle again. After a while my sleep schedule was shot to hell, my energy was down, and my enthusiasm suffered.

I'm not against redbull. But the amount of caffeine in one can IS outrageous, much stronger than one cup of coffee or one cup of tea. It also gave me heart palpitations, so be careful. I still drink the stuff, but only once in a while now.

Need a bit more info. You say you INJECTED the Red Bull into the embryos? Where? I suspect if you injected the stuff into a full grown elephant there would be health effects, last time I looked Red Bull was set up to be injested and digested.

Injecting the stuff into an embryo should pretty much kill 100% of the embryos you treat.

OOOOHH OOOOOHH lets inject some orange juice into some chicken embryos and see what happens.

Is this is what passes for science in our schools these days?
Aww...that experiment made me so sad, as I am a big time animal lover. :(

I must say that for a whole 2 months straight I would drink a sugar free red bull before my workouts. At first everything was great, I would feel energized &  felt like it was really helping my workouts. I would say after a month, I gained a tolerance to the caffeine & needed 2 to help me through my workouts.

After 2 months of drinking sugar free red bulls I developed migraines, something I have never had in my life. I woke up one night feeling like someone had stabbed me in the head with an ice pick.  After that I had to get off of them.  I had to wean myself off of them because I truly felt addicted to them. I went through headaches & the whole bit.

I cannot believe I put my body through that, all in the name of a little more energy.  Everyone is right, your best bet is to have a cup of coffee or green tea.  :)

I've lost 155 pounds and I drink a sugarfree rockstar every day (1 can = 20 cals). Healthy? No. Necessary? Sometimes. Caffeine in general speeds up the metabolism which in turn speeds up the fat burning process. I drink it to keep awake. It's a dietary supplement, says so right on the can. While it's not the best choice to obtain energy, it's not something you should worry about. Just don't over do it.

Weight Smart One a Day multi vitamin contains caffeine as well.

I know this post is really old, but I was in need of some red bull advice.  I think anything in moderation is okay.  I too had a friend who lost a lot of weight and still incorporated red bull in to her daily diet.

I have to say that I do like that sugar free red bull, but I only drink it as a splurge when I am letting myself have a 'drink' ...I know its only 10 calories, but I add me some vodka to it and have one every now and then on the weekends. It is yummy.

I've gotten on a green tea kick. I have me a diet green tea (the mixed berry is so yummy)  with some oatmeal in the morning and that really gets me into gear. I'd like to get me some fresh fruit in the mornings but it all costs and arm and a leg these days. I normally let my kids have it because they love it so much and its better than the sugary cereals.
