I was wondering if anyone heard anything about Red Bull in connection to losing weight?  Sugarless Red Bulls only have 15 calories in each can.  I know they give you more energy, which can make you more active and caffeine, which supresses your appeite. Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm wondering if I should run out and buy a few cans ;-)

If you like the taste of urine, then by all means buy a few.

On a more serious note, Red Bull is not meant to be a meal replacement.  It will give you energy, but only temporarily.

I definitely wouldnt recommend drinking a lot of redbull to help lose weight.  It's also quite pricey, which would get expensive in the long run. Water is great (and free!) or coke zero if you really want something fizzy, but red bull as anything more than an occasional drink is pretty unhealthy!

Red bull suppresses your appetite because of the caffeine. Coffee does the same thing. The only reason it might make you lose weight is because it could help you eat less overall? =/

A small green salad is also about 15 calories, or around 30-40 if you add some veggies, and probably a much better appetite suppressant...especially when coupled with some water or tea. But I'm a person that can eat salads.

exactly, carbonated urine and gummy bears.

it's horrible for you. every time i drink it I feel like crap after. I'd stick to green tea and coffee.

ok I dont drink red bull b.c it has a funny after taste and the only time I would recommend an engery drink is if its right before working out. I will sometimes drink coffee before I work out so I get that extra spurt of energy but if you dont like it energy drinks are the way to go. I usually go with full throttle blue demon(i think its called that) , it takes like a blue piki stick I think but I would only drink 1/4 of the can rather the whole thing b.c its full of sugar. Also the original tastes like schmirnff ice original. But again only 1/4 of the can b.c its full of sugar. You only want that little spurt of energy.

it also only has 80mg of caffeine, which can't be nearly enough to get your metabolism going.

it takes like 350+mg of caffeine to make me jittery, but maybe i'm a bit more tolerant..

but red bull is carbonated anyway, and you should try to drink that stuff sparingly; it gives you a bloated look and if you're looking to lose weight, that's not the look you're going for right?

If you like the taste, drink it.  But it's definitely not something you should do to lose weight.

Thanks for everyone's replies!

Hmm I feel like Im the only one that likes Red Bull. Its not healthy though under any circumstance. But it gets the job done. I drink one before I work out on most days, for energy. I get the sugar free medium size one. That definitely helps with cardio. I dont think it makes you lose weight though, just helps with giving you an extra spurt of energy. Just my thoughts.

Blech!  I'm too much of a coffee hound.  If you want the buzz w/o the taste just drink some coffee.  It's cheaper.  It tastes better.  And hey, it will help you make your own Red Bull ;)

I actually *love* how redbull tastes. I don't have it that often at all, but some days I find I've woken up late, no time for breakfast, I have to be at my skating practice in 15 minutes... and then I grab one of those diet ones (which probably makes it worse for me than the ones with actual sugar), drink it and go and I feel pretty good, at least until lunch :)  But yeah, Ive always liked how it tastes.
