After I run, my face is usually really red except for this white bit around my mouth. It's embarrassing! Is this a sign that I'm not a good exerciser?

nope, my sister's face stays red hours after a run. she's ran her whole life and has done marations. its just the way she is :)
Im the same way if I run in the mornings my face stays pink for most of the day
My Dad and I go all red during/ after exercise. My mother and my brothers don't. I and one of my brothers are quite fit. The other brother isn't, but no redness. I also flush easily when I am embarrassed- it's an inherited physiological thing to do with blood being carried to near the surface under certain circumstances I believe.

I go slightly less red now than I did when I first started exercising, unless it is very hot, in which case I end up looking like a beetroot, regardless. You just have to live with it I'm afraid.
Yep, I'm a blusher too.  Also sweat profusely.  I take it to mean my body is extraordinarily good at eliminating toxins.  ;-)

my face is always red when im getting a workout! u should have seen me during basketball games! and i sweat so bad its embarrasing!!!! I sweat like everywhere if i work out too much...its just the way you are..some people are just made that way!!
I'm the same, my face will get completely red on a run and stay that way for a good 20 minutes or so after.  It's an inherited thing for me.  Mom is the same way, and we both will flush when consuming alcohol.

Ditto.

In fact, it was ironic that I read this posting today as I was wondering about this myself last night. My face is always red and tingly (like a minor sunburn) after I exercise. It doesn't matter what activity I do - same result.

Also, I always get horrible headaches immediately after I'm done exercising, which go away once my heart rate lowers.

I'm wondering if the connecting factor to all of this is actually LOW blood pressure. I have low BP and have so most of my life. My 'unofficial theory' is that exercise increases my BP (obviously) which is much higher than my 'norm' causing red-face and headache.

Do you guys have Low Blood Pressure too?
kimber - I do indeed ... average around 95/55.  Maybe that does have something to do with it.  Your headaches sound pretty unpleasant, I hope it isn't anything serious.  I don't get headaches but when I really push myself I can definitely feel/hear the blood pounding in my head.
My face gets much redder if I do not hydrate properly first.  I have figured out if I drink 8-12 oz. of water before a run, not only do feel better running, but my face is not near as red after, either.  Just a thought!!
I have the same thing.  It never really concerned me though.  I guess it's from the increased blood circulation.  My face returns to a normal color after resting for a few minutes.
I have the same issue.  I bought a heart rate monitor this weekend to make sure that I stay within my proper heart rate zone and not overexerting, and that might be an option for you as well.  Another factor you may want to check into is whether you are staying hydrated enough throughout your workout.  That seems to work for me - a little, anyway.  Although it won't completely eliminate the problem, I hope it helps.
I and many in my family gets beet red.  I was even like that as a kid.  My blood pressure is not the issue with this though.

We also sweat profusely.  It's not so bad for the men in my family cause it's "acceptable" for men to sweat more, but for us females...totally embarrasing.  I also blush very easily and get a red hue when drinking.  Not as red as when I exercise, but still.  My cheeks get hot and I can feel it as it happens.

And then when someone sees how red I am they're like "Are you ok???"  Then I turn redder because I'm embarrased!  Lol
I can totally relate!

I used to be in the Army, and they made us run every other morning before work. Even when I was in great shape and could run pretty far without getting out of breath, my face would always turn bright red and then stay that way for about 2 hours :(

I dont think its a bad sign about your workout method or anything like that...its just a part of you. It will probably never go away (mine hasnt) but at least its better to work out and be healthy - red face and all - than not work out. Besides, after about 4 hours mine fades into a nice rosy-cheeked glow that I kinda like.

By the way, yep - low BP here too.
See, plenty of fellow beetroots around! It would be interesting to know what percentage of people have this tendency.
It's crazy but I was just thinking about my red face too.  And yes I have low blood pressure.  Maybe we should do a poll and see if there is a correlation.

I am 20 year old female, and i always had a red face, the same as everyone else, i have low blood pressure, and definatley sweat a lot, being hydrated definatley helps, and getting into shape really helps the sweating. i find that when my face turns red without working out its usually because i am uncompfortable and thats when i feel my blood pressure rise. whenever that happens i calm myself down, take deep breaths and just relax, then when they say "YOUR FACE IS RED!" i laugh and just reply" YEP, I'M IRISH BABY!"
I don't have low blood pressure, but my face turns RED after I exercise and take a couple of hours to fade back to normal.  It also will feel really hot for a while so I like to hold cold things up to my face during this period.

I don't know what causes it. I am prone to a little redness now and then anyway. Like a very, very mild rosacea almost.

I also have the kind of skin that turns red from pressure on it. Like if I cross my legs while bare-legged, there will be a red spot on my knee and the side of my calf from where they touched. It takes it a few minutes to go away.

I've always been like this.
We were just talking about this at my gym, and the exercise instructor was all happy that I was red.  She was like, good sign, I'm doing my job well!  After spinning I'm always fuschia-colored.  I, too, sweat a lot, and have low bp... odd how we all have that in common!
