Refeeding and insomnia?
Is there any possible positive correlation between refeeding and not being able to sleep? The past two days I have upped my calories and have literally laid in bed until 4am, not feeling the least bit tired. Then when I wake up, it's usually only a few hours later and I can't fall back asleep. Also, all day I feel really jittery(I have cut out caffeine and nicotine too btw) and anxious, like I need to keep moving.
It happened to me, but my sleep pattern wasn't great to begin with. I would take a sip of Nyquil and that helped (note: I'm not trying to condone using Nyquil for the wrong purpose, it just helped me a lot), and eventually with the help of my gp tried Rx sleeping pills- which didn't help at all. I felt real jittery a lot-even though I was still drinking caffeine- and had ridiculous night sweats, and also refeeding is stressful! Hope your sleep issue gets worked out. I would try some sort of OTC thing if it progresses for a while.
Oh man, I got this. I had insomnia from restricting and then insomnia from refeeding... bad times! I also had the night sweats. I think it's something to do with your metabolism catching up.
I have experienced all of the above--night sweats, insomnia, stress.
Recovering from ED is tough, and refeeding is stressful on your body AND mind. Something that helps me is playing very relaxing music (think Enya), and focusing on my breathing. And turning OFF the tv and computer and making my room completely dark.
It is hard to sleep also bc you are probably having a lot of thoughts and anxiety concerning recovery and food, but I assure you it gets better and better with time.
