Rehabilitating a severely strained rhomboid muscle

Quote  |  Reply

About three weeks ago I strained my right rhomboid muscle during a workout.  As a consequence my right arm was basically useless for about a week.  I ended up getting shots of marcane and kenalog in the area as well as taking some oral prednisone (talk about weight gain) for a week to decrease the inflammation secondary to some neuropathic pain in that arm caused by a "pinched" nerve that was caused by said inflammation.  I still have some pain, but the doctor (sports med) says that it should be ok to start light workouts again.  Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how to work this particular muscle to start strengthening it again.

Try the one-arm seated row - and possibly a face pull variation - with a weight that is low enough that you can feel the muscle working. And give scapular pushups a go to strengthen the whole shoulder complex so your rhomboid gets some help ;)
