Relaspse... thy name is bloating

Quote  |  Reply

Hey all,

I am in real need of some kind words and motivation right about now. I recently just started feeling bloated and full all the time and suffered a relapse where i ate 1500 cals a day at the most. I have seen a dietitian and she told me to stick to at least 2400 so im well under where im supposed to be and i find myself restricting more and more everyday. I guess i just dont see the light at the ed of the tunnel at the moment and i was wondering if anyone could spare a few kind words of encouragement. A friendly word or two at the moment would make all the difference in the world.

Hi clay010

You really have made it past one of the hardest hurdles.  Admitting you have a problem is the first step, and now you just need to remember that you are trying to recover so that you can continue to live.  Eventually you will get over this, and when you have made it past this huge obstacle in your life, you will be so much stronger.  It sure sucks right now, but it really is important to remember that recovery will help you to grow in many ways that will help you get through the rest of your life.

People are resilient beings, and I'm sure you'll make it through no matter how difficult things are now, as long as you want to. It's admirable that you've admitted your problem and good that you are holding yourself accountable for your relapse. Though it probably doesn't mean much coming from a stranger, I believe you can do this.

When you feel bloated, visualize yourself after reaching your goal. A healthy and happy you. It might sound silly, but making the connection between the physical process of recovery and the ultimate rewards to come in your mind are very helpful. Some people I've known reaped huge benefits in their recovery simply by repeating a mantra to themselves in their mind: "Food is nourishment, not poison".

Hope you feel better:)
