Release date for "Half Blood Prince" pushed back.

I'm quite upset about this.  I was looking forward to seeing this one in a few months and now we have to wait until NEXT summer.  Apparently they pushed it back to give it a better slot for the opening weekend.  I forget where I saw the article, otherwise I would have posted it.

I'm bummed.

I would be completely into it, but I bet there are fans out there who would not be too thrilled.  Kind of a "once you go Harry Potter you  never go back".  After all, there's no way it could be as good as the original, IMHO.  But still, we could hang out with the characters we love for a while longer!

I completely agree. The people who didn't really get into the story probably wouldn't enjoy it, and maybe some of the hard-core Harry Potter fanatics would feel that adding a second generation would ruin the whole series. But I would eat it up =D

I am going through potter withdraws... I would LOVE IT!!!!

It was my understanding that yes they pushed it back but the release of the one after that, would only be 3 months after Half Blood Prince.  So the wait after would be like NOTHING!  Still though I am not happy about the wait.

Call me cynical but I just think they'll do exactly the same thing when the time comes; there's NO WAY they'd release two that close together. We'll all go out and see Half Blood Prince but I'd bet my right arm that they won't release the final one for another 12 months after that. In my mind it would make sense to release them close together - not only would everyone still be pumped and the costs of promoting the final one be lowered as a result, but they could then sell an extraordinary amount of combined product and separate merchandise at the same time.

That, conversely, is the point though. The people who make money from the movies wuold want to span out the income they'd receive over a couple of years rather than in the space of 6 months.

I'm just impatient, I can accept that.

As long as I get me an eyeful of young master Radcliffe I'm happy!!! (heehee)

Ok, so who's getting excited about the movie coming out next week? FINALLY! I really want to go see it on Wednesday when it comes out but will have to wait until Saturday night. I've already bought our tickets for the 10:30 IMAX 3D showing. Can't wait!

ME ME ME!!!

But I am waiting a week or two before going to see it.  Opening weekend is going to be nuts...there will be so many kids.

I don't hate kids.  I just hate packed, noisy, theaters.

CoolI Did it, Star, I found a site, and hit the quote button... I am, truly, now an official HP cyper CC Nerd... hurrah!

Okay, you don't want a spoiler, as you have not yet seen the Movie... I went yesterday after my performance... I was SOOOO excited... I got to an afternoon performance, no line, no problem getting ticket... big audience... but still some seats.... the ones after were mobbed... if you cannot go in the twilight (4:30 movie suggested)... then wait...our audience was good, but subdued, paid attention...

This movie misses the mark, primarily because it simply doesn't follow basic dramatic form... you CANNOT have a great light versus dark movie without a FABULOUS dark villian... and this movie doesn't give us the villian only alludes to him... so it doesn't work... I can go into greater depth about this, after more peeps have seen the film... but my 17 year old son, also HP born and bred (same age as Harry in this film and the others).... said the exact same thing about it... too bad, the audience did not clap, the way they always have before at HP openings...

We were looking to go again as a family... but I think we might go to see the two other earlier Potter films that are currently playing on the big screens in this town...more later...

Yay! Bonnie has joined our little kingdom!  Welcome, my dear.

Man, that's too bad about the movie.  Possibly they did it that way because of the big character death? Didn't want to traumatize us too much. :)

On the other hand, the books and the movies are two separate things.  As long as I keep that in mind, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Thanks, Bonnie!

I don't know about that assessment. Apart from excluding The House of Gaunt and foregoing other key memories like the one involving Hepzibah Smith and the Hufflepuff Cup, I think Steve Kloves did a remarkable job piecing together essential plotlines in this book.

The cave scene is remarkable. It has to be up there with the graveyard scene in movie four and the voldie, ddore duel in movie five.

I do wish, the had the encounter with Riddle and Dumbledore at Hogwarts, though.
