I've burnt my mouth on the roof and around the sides a little. Case in point: don't try and chug a cappuccino because you realise you're going to be late to a lesson and can't take it inside the computer suite, but are a tightwad and refuse to throw away part of a £2.70 coffee. (Or, don't buy a coffee that costs £2.70.)

D:

I've got Bonjela and I'm putting that on it, and whilst my mouth is certainly cooled it (and everything I put in it) tastes like aniseed and foot cream. This isn't the most pleasant thing.

My GP suggested saltwater rinses. I can see how that'd work but I found myself making a string of noises of disgust after attempting it that made my mum think someone'd trod on the cat.

It's a royal pain (not just literally) as it makes it tricky to eat without stinging. Beyond painkillers, saltwater, and bonjela, does anyone have a good solution for rapid healing of an oral scald? If not I'll stick to the bonjela. x___x

I've only found 'time' to be the healer for mouths.  You can't slap on a bandage or isolate the area ..  Bad luck.

D'oh. >.<

I had another idea but really you seem like a lovely person and it's quite a nasty thing to suggest... sorry.   Diluted TCP?

The worst is when you bite into a slice of hot pizza and you burn the roof of the mouth. Usually its gone in a day. Just have to wait it out.

This is a pretty big ol' burn so I may give the diluted TCP a shot. I figure, my mouth tasting like a dentist's glove won't be as bad as a stinging mouth or it tasting like foot cream... D: Thanks.

geeze my mum used to give me that for sore thoats ... it works but tastes god awful.

the good thing is mouths tend to heal fast, you should only be uncomfortable for a day or so. Frown

Heh. I burnt it about three days ago. It's still sore - that's why I decided to ask for anyone's alternatives to what I'm already doing.

Like I said... bad burn. Dx

I was told to put sugar on it.   Worth a try!

I often fall victim to mouth burns. I like my food really warm. I agree with gi-jane and find that time is the best solution. I suggest staying away from warm, spicy, and salty foods for a couple days. Especially spicy, that hurts like a mother when you attempt to eat them. During these times I tend to vegetate towards ice cream, yogurts, smoothies, applesauces, etc.

Hope you have a quick recovery!
