Reluctant

Quote  |  Reply

I started receiving this site info from a friend who is concerned about me. I am 33, am around 360lbs and I have not had my light bulb moment. Even seeing pictures of myself isn't motivating me to start to get rid of the weight. So far, nothing has motivated me to do anything about it. I also realize that this could kill me. That still doesn't do it for me. I have tried to think about what it would take to get my ass moving and nothing comes to mind. I am not even sure if I am an emotional eater or if I am addicted to food. I think most of the time, I just try not to think about it. Sometimes, I see myself in the mirror and am disgusted but I just go on about my day and forget about it. Other times, I feel thinner than I really am which to me is weird. Rereading this my first instinct is maybe I am depressed. It feels more like laziness to me.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Welcome! You have already taken the first step! There's loads of information here and helpful people. You may feel like you don't have a fire under your ass but making an account proves you may be up for it and posting your feelings shows a lot of courage. Do you think maybe seeing somebody might help you out of this 'rut'? Only you can do this for yourself. It might take 6 months, another year before you realize you truly need to do something because motivation plays a huge role in this. How else will you keep going? I felt the same way you did regarding my body- feeling disgusted with myself then going about my day like nothing happened. Same with feeling thinner on some days- I don't know what it is. About a month ago, I had the urge to commit to healthy eating and exercising, I just got really fed up about my weight and the way I felt. Sure, some days I felt like giving up but I just plunged on. It also helps having old jeans and shorts being hung up on walls to remind me to stick to my goal. You could just start off slowly- look how much calories you need to eat to lose weight... Start with that... then set up mini goals like adding vegetables, omitting soda, etc. (not that I don't think you don't eat vegetables already!) ;) This lifestyle change is for LIFE, not just when you reach your goal weight (at least, for me it is.) If you feel like you want to talk or need support, I don't mind helping. Again, welcome!
