time to get nostalgic!  Post your 'Remember when's' here...

I'll start...

Remember when a record was $3?

I remember when the 78s were 79 cents

when i could go to the movies for $4.25

milk for 10 cents a quart

newspapers for 3 cents

god I feel ancient

big shoulder pads and tapered pants were the pinnacle of fashion...

cell phones were the size of the regular cordless phone...

there wasn't a Starbucks on every corner...

there was no world wide web...  :O

When, if you wanted a book at the library and didn't know the call number, you went to the little dinky filing drawer and pulled out the one for that letter, and flipped through fifty little typed cards.. :)

Grocery stores used to actually take your cart to your car and load the car for you and you didn't have to ask

Cigarettes were $.35 cents a pack

Milk was delivered to your door and put in your milk box on the front stoop and if you wanted butter or cheese you put a note in the box and the delivery guy would add that to your order.

Playing outside "until the street lights came on"

Remember when gas was less than $1.00?

hips - do you remember when gas stations gave you china or dishes and stuff when you filled up?

I remember going to the movies for 50-cents!  Ooops, age showing, huh?

I remember black and white TV

I remember soap operas being 30 minutes or even 45 minutes long

I remember when prime time TV DID NOT consist of a bunch of game shows, they were shown during the daytime.

I remember buying 45s for about 79 cents each and albums for about $3  Now, neither exist.

I remember when no video games existed in the home and we actually did family things on the weekends.

I remember the first Commodore 64...I had one!

OK, that's enough remembering.  I feel old.

I remember when Hanna Barbera did most of the cool cartoons.

I remember when movies rarely were longer than 2 hours.

I remember when Atari came out.  I had an Atari 2600, and an Atari 400, 800, and an Atari ST, which was sort of a proto-Macintosh.

I remember when Windows 95 was a Big Deal and that your computer probably couldn't run it.

I remember a time when chain letters were sent via snail mail. I remember when there was only one kinda mail.

I remember a time when "Boards" referred to a place you logged in with your modem and thus couldn't stay and hang out all day, since it was your phone line you were keeping busy.

Remember when women wore white gloves and hats to go shopping?

Remember when man walked on the moon?

I remember growing up with 3 channels on tv-abc, nbc, cbs and local uhf channels!  No MTV!

I remember when my parents would send us for cigarettes and we got to keep the change - and with it we bought Pop, Chocolate bar and some penny candies...the change was probably $.50!!  :) 

I remember when people got new fridges and stoves it was awesome!!  We would take the box to a gully - squeeze 3-4 kids inside and slide down the hill blindly!! 

I remember when if your neighbor saw you doing something stupid - he would either talk to you or spank you depending...and you didn't DARE tell your parents because you would get it again!!

I remember when kids didn't have a CLUE what their friend's parent's names were...other than Mr. and Mrs. so and so

I remember believing in Santa and the Easter bunny and desparately trying to stay awake to see them!! 

I remember the first microwave we got just after they came out - it was huge and I was terrified the microwaves were going to kill us!!  :) 

Remember when Saturday morning cartoons were on alll morning, and weren't the same cartoons shown every other day of the week on Nickelodeon?

Remember when you were actually served food on a coach flight?

Remember Showbiz Pizza, with Billy Bob as the star of the place?

Remember when no one had a cell phone?

Remember real underground raves in the city? With everyone trading beaded bracelets? And drinking all that water?

Remember the stores Jean Nicole, Nia Fashion, Contempo, and Benneton?

Remember the flimsy records sent in the Sunday News as a sales gimmick for McDonalds? If it played the whole song of the ingredients to some burger loaded with condiments and such you were the grand prize winner?

Remember the Get Along Gang?

Remember Esprit?

Remember when Bob Barker had black hair?

Remember pop tart cereal?

best thing about remembering when....

I remember when I played with my cabbage patch dolls and now I get to watch my daughter play with them

I remember playing with my Strawberry Shortcake and now my daughter plays with them.
