i just break the egg open at the top of drain it out without letting the yolk slip in
if you don't have a problem with touching a raw egg.. the easiest way is to crack it open, put it into your hand and let the white drop into a bowl while holding the yolk.. then discard the yolk.. just make sure your hand is clean and the bowl is big enough that the white doesn't go everywhere.. :)
Over a bowl...
crack an egg in two..
try holding the yolk in one half while removing the other half..
then try to transfer the yolk to the other half...
then throw the shells and yolk away..
The white drains out while you do this... the trick is to not burst the yolk with the shell.... but if a bit of yolk gets in the white.. it won't be a disaster...

Another way is to rest a spoon over a glass. Break the egg into the spoon carefully, so the yolk sits in the spoon, but the white tips over the side. If it falls in use the spoon to scoop it out :D
Tupperware used to make the single best egg separator, so good it's useless for anything else.
I've tried the poking a hole with a needle trick, and it takes way too long. it's easier if you crack a hole about the size of a quarter to drain the whites out into a bowl, while the yolk stays behind. Be sure when you make this hole that you don't break the yolk - otherwise, it'll mix in with the whites and spill through.
Also, if you're not going to use your yolk for cooking, you can save them as a conditioner for your hair! Just leave on hair for 10 minutes then rinse with lukewarm (hot water may cook it - yuck). Just hate to see people wasting food like that. :(
