I reprogrammed my set point!!
I am very happy. I started this journey in May 2007 and have lost about 50 lbs, most of it right away. Lately, I haven't been counting calories and have slipped back into some old (bad) habits, but no matter what I do, I wind up settling at about 193 lbs! (I used to weigh in the 240s). Unless I consistently eat more food than I want to, for several days in a row (not more food than I should - more food than I want to, i.e. compulsiveness), I just don't ever go over that weight. And it only takes a few days of eating semi-healthy, still without calorie counting, to bring me back to 193 effortlessly. Then, after I return to even slightly healthier living, my weight drops back down a few lbs to where I've been bouncing around for the last several months, namely 188-190.
My only conclusion? My set point is reset - wahoo! It's taken almost a year of "maintenance". (I weighed 194 at the end of last October, and have not regained since, though I haven't lost much more, either).
I'm looking forward to continuing this journey and setting it even lower!!

trustwomen congrats on getting a new set point. I think I did too. I've been bouncing around 204-206 for 9 months now. If I have too many cheat days in a row, I go up to 209, but it drops down back to 204-206 range within 4-5 days of eating healthy again. I am happy to be at this "set point", because when I started this journey Feb. last year I weighed 260.
54 lbs gone, and my body has decided the lower works for me now.
