How to resist this food?

Quote  |  Reply

Usually we don't have unhealthy food in the house - my mum doesnt eat it and if its in the house I tend to eat it all in one go, I can't do moderation!

So usually if I eat something unhealthy, I buy it as 1 serving and have it then and there.

But yesterday we took my horses to a national championship, and as it was a special day I figured I could eat what I like - I don't calorie count due to an old eating disorder but just sticking to 3 meals a day, as long as they're healthy I find I lose weight on that.

But though I was trying to be...sensible with picking food to take, my mum wasn't..the problem now is theres loads left over - chocolate coissaints, maple pecan things, snickers bars, chocolate mousse...and its calling Eat me Eat me! to me!

I'm gonna find it sooo hard to resist as my mum probably won't eat this but wont throw it away until its out of date and I'm gonna have to try and resist it every day?

Howwww??

Throw it away yourself if you're the only one in the house who is gonna eat it.  :)

Why don't you just tell your mum you're worried that you'll pig out on it, and that it would be best to donate it to somewhere instead? That way at least it's not going to waste. And I don't think there's any way she can fault you with trying to be healthy!

I've found that being honest about food cravings with others makes the likelihood of you carrying out the binges less likely... Hope it all goes ok :) xxx

She wont let me throw it away lol, its kinda complicated. She just says oh its not fair someone else might want it (but no one ever does eat it ) grrr

take it to work or school and share with others.

Thats exactly what I do, I give some to the gardener or the pool dude or the handy man who ever is maybe helping me out in some little way.
If I visit a friend I bring a slice or two, so there is less and less of it.

Sharing is caring! heehee ;)

Can you wrap it up and stick it in the freezer?  Most bake goods freeze well and you will have a treat to serve for company.

I have the same issue at my house- my parents buy treats that they never end up eating.  It's toough to look at them every day but not eat them  But you cant throw them out or give them away because your parents bought them, paid money for them and not yoy, so it's not your choice.

What you have to do is just deal with it.  You can't evacuate it from the house, but you can try and put it out of your mind.  Just keep the stuff you normally eat very visable in the fridge and cabinets so that they are easily accessible, and maybe push the crappy food to the less visable places of the fridge.

And use some self-control.  You can do it, it's for your body. You only get one,  treat it with respect.
