Resisting temptatons! What potentially dangerous food did you pass up today?

Quote  |  Reply

So a while back there was a thread about what you didn't eat today. I loved that thread! I have no idea where it is, nor the patience to go searching for it lol.  I like to hear about and share stories about over coming temptations. I think Weight Watcher's  got it right when they created that orange fuzzy "hungry" monster lol. It feels good to share a strong moment in will power! Share away resistors of temptations! This is mine for today.........................

I was baby sitting 3 adorable kids tonight with my BFF. We took them to cold stone and the only thing I got was a diet pepsi! I didn't even take a bite of anyone's ice cream! It felt great!!!

panda express.. its next door which is no problem but a customer bought it for us looked sooo good for some reason and i only had a piece of brocolli.. then my co worker kept offering me his big ass brownie from port of subs so after saying no 4 times i opened a south beach diet bar and felt better. damn co workers.

DOUGHNUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An 800 kcal microwave carbonara. I went for the lower calorie, and more fulfilling option of beans and sausage on toast, with an egg.

All time favourite.

I resisted the oreo!!! my brother bought a whole pack of oreos and was dipping them in milk. ohhhh if only i had a super fast metabolism like that.

A Hershey kiss and Peppermint Patty that a co-worker dropped at my desk (i stashed them away for when I really need a chocolate fix) and a complete O'Charley's yeast roll. I only had a 1/2 and NO BUTTER! woohoo!

I passed up binging on easter candy.

I had a good workout, so I did NOT pass on the candy, I just looked at the serving size of robin's eggs, pulled out 5, and wrapped the bag up and put it away :).

Yesterday some one brought 3 boxes of of dunkin donuts.  I had not 1 donut!

Didn't have a calorie-filled egg dish. Didn't have licorice. Didn't have more than two lumps of ice cream. Didn't have hot fudge with that, but instead some fruit. Didn't get fries when my family stopped for them on the way home.  Didn't have more than one muffin.  Didn't eat more than a tiny piece of garlic bread.  Didn't have tea cookies.  Didn't have the Cheetos offered to me.

And probably a lot more "didn'ts" which are coming up today, as my cousins arrive and the Easter chocolate comes out...

Oh and right now my grandmother is going to take me to go buy candy bars.  I'll buy them because it's a tradition (I always would when I was little, and I sure do like them) but I WON'T eat them.  They'll go packed away for when I go back to school to share with friends.

Here's to willpower!

(Since it's only 7:30a here, I'll review yesterday:)  Hot, fresh out of the fat Krispie Kreme donuts!  Huge, dark-chocolate-dipped macaroons.

Tostitos Lime Chips!! 6 chips = 150+ calories. Yikes!!

freshly baked muffins, pancakes, french toast, waffles, bagels... seriously any breakfast food you could possibly think of. i just got back from the dining hall. managed to escape with just scrambled eggs, oatmeal and an apple.

went to the cheesecake factory and actually followed through with picking a healthy meal, and eating half actually i think even less. and only nibbled on some cheesecake had one small piece of bread! yay!

I resisted home made apricot and ginger cake with loads of full cream custard.

kortlynmoore:  you are already very slim, so it's unclear why resisting ice cream is an accomplishment.  indulging in an occasional treat is healthy and a good thing to model for children.  limiting your intake to diet/lo cal/sugar free/fake foods and opting for a diet soda sounds like behaviors that are edging towards ED-land.  making conscious decisions about your intake is something to be proud of.  but when those decisions result in restriction, it may be time to rethink your approach to eating.

Laura916 thank you for your concern but  wasn't really wanting the ice cream anyways besides I don't like the idea of paying almost paying $5 for the "like it size". I ate my fair share of wonderful Otis Spunkmeyer cookies the day before lol and just wasn't feeling the ice cream, which I was proud of because I do have a killer sweet tooth and I was just shocked that I opted to save the money instead of eating the overly expensive ice cream. I did have a nice bowl of edy's cookie dough ice cream when I got up today for breakfast lol. But again thank you for your concern and I'm not restricting, I just didn't really want any

i agree about the price issue, but the theme of your post doesn't suggest you felt proud for saving money.  in fact, you suggested that ice cream was "dangerous."  glad to hear you enjoy the fat free edy's on occasion, but your eating habits do suggest restriction to all low calorie food.  so, i'm not asking for you to convince me or anyone else that the situation you posted was or was not a gesture towards restriction.  i do think your diet is limited, though...regardless of the intention.

Yikes!!! They are (well....were) my favorite!! Sealed

Me too! argh! but, I suppose I should feel grateful that I've been made aware of the danger. I haven't encountered them since I started dieting and now I'll avoid them. It's impossible for me to eat only a serving of those things.

I've avoided:

- that second serving at dinner I wasn't hungry for but my mom tried to get me to eat (argh!)

- hot chocolate (had hot tea instead!)

- fruity pebbles (raisin bran instead!)

- humongous cheese sandwich as a snack (cheese is my weakness....had a small slice of cheese and some turkey on a roll instead)

- bingeing on hot cross buns (my favorite thing about easter...only had two today)

- potato chips

- chocolate graham cracker/cookie things

Hey, good post, I feel pretty proud of myself ^^

i avoided:

- the softest buttery naan (ok fine...ONE bite)

- butter chicken

- this creamy paneer dish

- seekh kabab's

i ordered some spicy shrimp dish with steamed rice....while my friends had the above foods!

I made cheese cake for the family and did not have any for myself which was really hard ILOVE CHEESE CAKE
