should take a rest day in between pilates?
SO I have these different winsor pilates tapes, and I was thinking if it is okay, to do some training without a days rest?
I know that if you lift weights, you should take a rest day in between, but I have heard other things when it comes to training where you only use your own bodyweight..
TIA :)

It depends if you are used to it or not. I am a yoga teacher of a fairly strenuous yoga style, and we recommend that beginners practice only 3 times a week at first, building up to 6 times a week for those who are serious about it. I practice 6 days a week for 90 mins each time but I sometimes take an extra rest day if I am feeling a bit tired physically. The body needs time to recover.
You mentioned in your other post that you did the accelerated sculpting workout and started to feel nauseous- a pretty sure sign that you are overdoing it (or did you eat shortly before your workout? Pilates uses the stomach muscles a lot and it is better for you not to eat for at least 2 hours before a Pilates class, the emptier your stomach the better).
"Accelerated sculpting" sounds quite tough for someone just starting Pilates. Possibly try a less strenuous workout to start with and build up to that one. If you feel muscle strain the next day, it is probably better to rest that day. Quite soon you will be able to do the workouts without feeling any pain or tiredness the next day, and then you can increase the frequency. Injury is possible in both Pilates and yoga from overloading joints and muscles that are not used to that kind of movement, so take care.

Thanks apsara!!
Yes, I did eat dinner about 30 minutes before working out..
and Yes, I am VERY new to pilates - I like it, because you can do it at home, without jumping around (to spare my downstairs neighbours) and I have heard so many good things about it.
I know that I should prop. do the lighter workouts - I quess it is a typical rookie mistake, that you desperatly wanna start doing something good and may try out too hard.
Is it okay to drink water in the workout or only x minutes before and x minutes after workout?
thank you again!

Glad to help! Eating dinner 30 mins before was probably the culprit. Pilates makes you use all your abdominal muscles and the stomach doesn't appreciate being squished around like that while it is trying to digest things.
If you need water then just sipping is better. Your last big drink should be at least 30 mins before you start your workout. Afterwards drink as much as you want, straight away if you like.
My mother has been practicing Pilates a few years now and hasn't had back problems since she started (she had two operations to remove herniated discs previously) and she lost 30 pounds last year by combining a reduced calorie intake with daily Pilates.
Enjoy your workouts :-)
