Hey guys,
I seem to have hit a plateau that has lasted two weeks. I had lost about ten pounds and I am at exactly 142.5. I have been at this weight, despite sticking with my diet (with the occasional treat), for two weeks! It doesnt budge. I work at a camp with four year olds (a workout within itself), I fast pace-walk for two miles when i get home burning about 150 calories and I am eating anywhere between 900-1100 calories per day! (1200 calories on a bad day such as yesterday)
The scale just wont budge! Any suggestions on what I can do?

Your body needs at least 1200 to function (if you're a woman, 1500 if you're a man)
Less than 1200 does NOT equal fast weight loss, you've stalled because your body is freaking out.
Please eat at least 1200 calories on the days you're Sedentary, and 1200 + exercise calories on the days you exercise.

raise your calorie level a little. it'll stimulate your metabolism and your exercise periods will probably also be more productive. be patient the plateau will pass.
I just had a plato for a week and understand how frustrating it is!
I thought my scale was broken :) because my weight was just stuck on the same number (126lbs) and not matter what I did for a week it wouldn't change! I stayed with the plan but added more liquids/water to my diet and had earlier dinners for a couple of days (finishing the last meal no later than 7:30pm) - that worked for me and today I finally got below 126lbs - I'm at 124.5! hope this will start a good trend (my goal is 118lbs). Please don't give up and continue following a good exercise plan, get good night sleep (fewer hours would slow down your metabolism), drink water, and eat a very balanced diet (I always run analysis on my daily diet and target a grade A every day). You will see results very soon - you are doing great!

E A T :)
You have quite an active life (and hectic too I bet). Being around kids that age is indeed a different kinda workout :D
So, yeah, fuel up your life. Eat appropriately to your activity level. As it is you seem to not eat enough. Bump up your calories to above 1200, heck, start with 1200 consistently for a month. Don't freak out if you gain weight in the first 1 week or so. (oh and I know it is probably hard with what you do during the day, but try sneak in small snacks between each meal.)

When I was in the weight loss mode I would have 2 weeks, sometimes more without any weight loss. At first I would get really moody about no progress on the scales but soon I would drop a couple of pounds. Eventually I met my goal and lost 50+ pounds. As I look back on my weigh ins there was a consistent pattern to my weight loss. You will also find out your pattern. Your body works has its own pace. I realize now that it is (weight loss) a big picture thing. So... Set up your plan, be consitent in your food intake and exercise and track your progress - the weight will come off. It is not magic it is simple math. Your doing great!
when i started my diet, i was doing 1000 calories a day. i lost 12 pounds in the first couple weeks, then hit a 10 day plateau. it finally passed, without making any adjustments, then i lost about 4 pounds a week for the next few weeks. i later bumped it up to 1400 calories/day with a binge day on saturday, and am now achieving my 2 pounds/week loss. i've lost 36 pounds and am now 3 pounds below my ideal weight. but i'm a tennis player, and want to be lean, and what the heck, might as well make the 40 pound club.
I'd take a day and eat at your maintenace calories, you're body's probably trying to hold onto extra fat in an attempt to make sense of whats going on, why there's so little food coming in. Show your body that you can eat more and it might respond
2 week plateaus are normal. Also, if you are a female, you have all sorts of hormones and thingies that can vary your weight a bit, up and down.
2 glasses of water weighs 1 lb.
If nothing happens in another week or more, then something might be up. Are you certain your calories are being counted accurately? Any kiddie-snack foods sneaking through? :-)
I agree with others that cutting your calories more makes no sense. If it were me I would triple-check the calories, and make sure there were correct, and healthy, and kick up the exercise a bit, like 10 minutes of "running" just to kick it up a notch.
But just wait it out a bit and be happy. It could be water retention.

i am also experiencing the same thing. I weighted 155 in june and started "healthy eating" and working out 3 times a week. My current weight is 141 lbs. and I haven't lost any since july 3. I am already losing hope....
Never ever give up hope, that is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Weight-loss for a basically healthy person is not Voodoo...its Physics, literally. If a person is still overweight by the basic BMI numbers, and is not losing weight, there is a reason for it. Too many calories in, not enough going out.
That being said, I have seen people saying they are "overweight" when their BMI is already very low! If a person has just a few extra lbs on them, be thankful for your health.
Then you will have to get more precise, as in writing down all of your foods, including the "one-bite" of your friends lunch, etc. 99% of people Delude themselves about calorie intake, even professional dieticians are off by 10%.
I don't know why someone would put "healthy eating" in quotes? That's the only way to go forward if a person wants to be healthy. But eating healthy also means controlling the calories, and just not eating huge plates of so-called healthy food. We still have to control the calorie intake, and KNOWING it precisely is not that easy.
