Do you have a reward in mind?

Quote  |  Reply

I have been reading alot of posts and reading alot of articles about motivation and sticking to goals. It got me thinking about setting a reward goal for myself that is something I have always wanted and would love to give myself IF... I mean when I get to my goal weight. :). So I thought it might be fun to share what reward you would love to give yourself when you get to the end of your journey.

I tried to think of something realistic that I know I could actually do and that would not be some crazy pipe dream, of course.... my reward is something sort of expensive so I really hope I can do this and make it worth  the money!

My reward has a time frame so here goes: If by january of next year I have lost at least 100 lbs, I will use my tax return money (lol) to take me and my s/o to New Orleans for Mardi Gras in Feb... which is also right around my birthday. I have wanted to go to New Orleans my whole life and being that it is Mardi Gras season I thought why not!! If I am 100 lbs lighter it will be the perfect opportunity to flaunt my new self!

What would be your ultimate reward?

I have a lot of weight to get rid of, so I'm doing 25 pound rewards.

My first goal of 25 pounds was attained last week, and I got a pedometer.  It sounds silly, but I've always been curious about how much I walk in a day, especially since I have a desk job, so for me this was perfect, and very affordable at only 10 bucks at Target.

I also want to start exercising, and at 50 pounds lost I'm going to get a heart rate monitor so I can know if I'm doing my cardio right or not.

75 pounds will be a bigger reward - not totally determined, but maybe going to the theater in San Francisco (I hope to make it before Wicked finishes!) or an awesome day trip somewhere.

I have up to 150 pounds to lose, so the rest of the rewards will depend on what I can and can't do financially when I get to each of the rewards.  For now, I'm really proud of myself for sticking with it, and that is a huge reward for me.

Another big reward will be seeing the look on my relatives' and my in-laws' faces when they see how much weight I've lost - specifically my mother-in-law's mom... I'm tired of being looked down on by people I'm only related to by marriage - totally judgemental!  Of course, they probably won't even notice, but at least I can laugh about it to myself!

When I get to my goal weight, I'm getting a pair of expensive jeans - 7's or Diesels, depending on what looks best!

Hopefully, I'll be ready for a nice big shopping spree on all sorts of other clothes too, since nothing will fit!

I also have a pair of pants in my closet that I got a bit too small... the next size up was too big.  I'll be really excited when I can wear them!  I'm really close!

In order to keep myself motivated in the short term, I'm doing a shiny hair clip or new lipgloss every five pounds.  This ensures two things--I continue losing weight, and I don't spend all of my money on lipgloss and hair things.

I'll also do a whole wardrobe re-vamp once I hit my goal weight, and I'll probably go to an all-night DANCE PARTY.  For said dance party I am going to get me a slutty tastefully revealing outfit and dance like crazy!
