How do you reward yourself?

Quote  |  Reply
I'm thinking of promising myself little rewards for weigh-loss landmarks..
e.g.
    160 lbs. get new shoes
    150 lbs. get hair done
What kinds of rewards do you give yourself? I'd love to get some ideas from you guys!

When I get to 160 I'm buying myself a new 30gig mp3 player

And I reward myself whenever I'm doing good with a small treat... The Smart Ones desserts are excellent
I actually didn't reward myself for anything, and I don't think I ever will. I'm veiwing my weight loss as a punishment for letting myself get so fat. Because I ate everything I wanted before, I deserve to suffer now. Not the most mentally healthy strategy, but its the truth. I don't see why I should reward myself for getting down to a size I should of been at before. I used to be 120 and in pretty good shape 3 years ago, and over those last 3 years gained 25 pounds, so losing it now is an accomplishment, sure, but gaining it to begin with wasn't.
Aww, you sound so hard on yourself!  Sure, overeating was wrong, but you're human, you made mistakes, and now you're doing something really impressive. So feel free to pat yourself on the back!
I'm SO looking forward to being under the 200 lb mark. I've been thinking about some kind of reward but haven't decided yet. Surely I'll need one size smaller office clothes. Clothes shopping is kind of depressing though because I know what I used to look like and I still will not see that in the mirror at 199.

A 30gb mp3 player? Holy moly! Mine is only 1gb.

I think I'd rather have some kind of spa day though.
I know that it's great that I managed to lose the weight, (although I still haven't done any excersize so I'm all flab and none of the muscle tone I used to have before). And I've gotten compliments from pretty much every person I know, which is reward enough I think. Particularly from my boyfriend's friends who are always chasing after these really skinny girls. But as for formal gifts or indulgences, I don't really do that. Except now when I keep eating chocolate because I'm trying to slowly make the transition from losing to maintaining, but that's not helping because I always feel guilty about geting 500 calories of chocolate and still not feeling full after that. I'm eating around 1300 calories a day, so 500 is a huge chunk of that.
The other day I wore some pants I had not been able to fit in for two years!  It wasn't intended as a reward, but I wanted something cute to wear for easter, and I saw them and thought "I wonder if I could fit in those again - they are so cool, I wish I could wear them!" and they fit!!  I can't tell you how happy it made me to wear them!!

Probably half my closet or more is stuff that I don't wear either because it really doesn't fit me anymore, or it does fit technically fit but it makes me look/feel fat now that I am bigger (eg - a shirt that clings too close and you can see the lumps and dents of where my bra indents into my back flab - eeewwww!)  NOW I am going to reward myself by being able to wear that stuff again!!
You're lucky. I ended up throwing away most of the stuff that didn't fit me anymore right before I started to lose weight. It's a shame because I threw away several pairs of very cute jeans that I'm sure would fit me now.
Well my big reward is going to be a printer.

I need one anyway but this just forces me to work for it if i want it faster.

But other than that, just little electronics or things i want/like or even a few things i need.  i just made a list on my journal today in fact :)
i feel almost the same as xprincessxjulzx. best reward for me will be when i come back home from university for the summer and see all the ppl i haven't seen since christmas, some since the summer before, and they make comments on my weight. since none really know im "dieting," if the weight loss is legit they will definately say something. if its not i'll know i failed and need to work harder.

for instance my cousin lost all this weight over like a year and a half, and everyones been commenting on it at all the family gatherings. if i can get them to comment on my weight loss naturally, thatll be the greatest reward.

i was 129 last time i weighed myself, so im like 24 pounds away from my goal weight. im only 5'4 though so thatll fit me. i'll see everyone at memorial day for a barbeque so i think i can definately be at my goal weight by then. and then happily enjoy cheeseburgers off the grill. ah my uncle makes them sooo good.

I am getting myself a massage for every 15 pounds lost.......................talk about motivation!
At 170 (3.5 lbs to go), I get new shoes.

At my goal of 150, full day spa package! (facial, massage, pedicure, manicure...)   AAAAHHHH!

I also get my other in between rewards, like extended oogling from hubby, or at my latest family gathering - "You're slimming down, aren't you?  You look great!"
I'm only working on the last 10 lbs, and I hate to say it, but I've been basically rewarding myself at every few lbs down... by buying new clothes!! I'm a clothes horse though... shopping is a major indulgence of mine... so I don't know if this really counts... but I will say that I'm amazed to find that - this close to the goal - just a single pound can make such a big difference in how clothes fit!

We have a 2-week beach vacation in Spain planned in August... one of those "trips of a lifetime" things.  I should reach my goal by May, but if I go for another 5 lbs, I'll have just reached that goal by our trip.  I keep stocking up on cute sun dresses, sleeveless tops, and shorts and stuff for the trip. I figure by August my arms won't look quite so chunky and I'll be happy going sleeveless. Swim suit is another story ... arghhh...

So I don't know if this is so much a reward, as it is motivation not to quit and regain the weight before the trip!!
I agree with Steph J there is nothing more rewarding than a nice massage or pedicure :)

I'll be rewarding myself with a new swimsuit or TWO this year! :)
When I broke the 200 mark, I bought Dance Dance Revolution, which is not only big fun, but keeps me moving.  I plan another treat for when I break 180, but I haven't decided what yet.  Maybe a few new clothes.  What I'm wearing is baggy already, by the time I break 180, I'll need at least a few new things!  Perhaps I'll hit the thrift shops.  I don't want to waste too much money on clothes when I plan to shrink out of them! :)
Exactly! :)
I rewarded myself at the begining by buying an MP3 Player.  It's a 1gb zen nano plus... which while 1gb is small, it's big enough for my uses and the player is about the size of a bic lighter which makes taking it to the gym a lot easier than some chunky mp3 player with a harddrive.

So before even working off much of the weight I rewarded myself with the tools needed to make it a more enjoyable situation.   I loaded the player with some good upbeat music and I take that to the gym so if I'm on the treadmill I can enter a peaceful zen like zone or if I'm lifting weights I can have those sounds in my ears instead of those around me throwing off my focus.

I've said I would reward myself, and have yet to follow through!  I have stuff on my list like take a day off work and work in the dark room on some photos, and buy a new suit (toward the end!) and go to the beach...but I've never done any of it!  Still, the idea of it is satisfying, especially since I won't allow myself to do these things until I get to that point, sad though that I still don't do them, even when I get there!
155lb => a CD

150=> swim suit/bikini

145 => some makeup

140 => a designer bag
Hmmm, I will definitely be needing new clothes (if all goes as planned!) but I feel like I shouldn't buy anything new until I reach my goal.. Like plaidpooka said I don't want to waste money on stuff I'll shrink out of! Maybe I'll put away the money I would be spending on clothes now so that I can have a serious shopping spree when I reach my goal!
I'm always rewarding myself for no reason at all. LOL
