Rewards...
Just wondering what kind of non food rewards everyone gives themselves when they've hit a fitness or weight loss goal?
I'm trying to come up with ways to keep me motivated. I haven't been losing weight as fast as I would like but I understand that it's a slow moving process if it's done right. My daily food journal is usually an A or A- and I exercise at least 40 mins 6 days per week doing Turbo Jam.
Look forward to hearing from everyone!
Every 12 weeks. I have a certain amount of money I can spend on activity or some (non-food related)
First Reward- $60- Spa Pedicure
Second Reward- $120-????
Third Reward- $180- Tiffany's Sterling Silver Necklace
Final Reward- $300- ?????
I have to have a net weight loss of more than 15lbs for the first three rewards and be at my goal weight for the last.
If i don't make my goals I will give the money to charity. That's still a reward to me just a different kind.
Most people reward by the lb. From the postings I've seen.
When I made it to 50 lbs I bought myself a new Purse and Wallet. I didn't buy myself anything when I hit my goal. Maybe I should think about buying something ![]()
When I lost 30lbs I rewarded (well, my parents) rewarded me with a new wardrobe. It was partly because all my previous clothes were too big! I just hit under 200lbs and I bought some Prada perfume that is amazing! I need to think of my next one. Maybe when I hit 179lbs... I haven't seen that number in I don't know how long!
What is your next goal?
I just started back to my weight loss journey Dec 16, 2008 (odd to start on a Tuesday I know but it just seemed right!).
I have set my first goal for March 10th, my goal is to have obtained at least 10 lbs in total weight loss. It's been a VERY slow moving process for me since I started. Currently I'm down 7.2 lbs so I'm hoping I can meet it. For my first reward I'm going to start small, I will reward myself with a new workout DVD (I've been dying to add to my Turbo Jam collection) or buy a new piece of clothing, I'll decide later.
Once I meet my goal, hopefully by September, I'm going to reward myself with some kind of spa treatment at my salon. It'll be right before my wedding (Oct. 3, 2009 YAY!) so I'm going to seriously need it. I was thinking massage or body wrap, we'll see what the wallet has in store for me then. :)
I say just do something that you love! I LOVE to shop...oh clothes...they are my weakness... And what's great is when you hit that first goal, to try on clothes that you hadn't fit into before - I just made it into an 18 from target and I haven't done that in forever!!
I really like the spa ideas too - something to pamper yourself for working so hard.
Think about the things that you love to do, or WOULD love to do...if only you had time, or no responsibilies or whatnot. And then see how you can work that in.
When I lost 10 pounds, I bought a motorcycle helmet (about $80)
When I lost 20 pounds, I enrolled in a motorcycle safety training class and got my motorcycle (class M) license (about $200)
When I lost 30 pounds, I bought a rockin' motorcycle (about $6000+)
The motorcycle was expensive, but I saved up and the motivation to lose weight and look sexy riding the bike is high for me to keep going
I love being a biker chick!
I did a 10 percent by christmas challenge and to reward myslef for that (I lost 8 percent which I thought was amazing) I just now, like yesterday to be exact, was able to get my hair highlighted. It was a great feeling. If I make my 5% goal by Valentines then I want to get some underwear and bar matching combo.
I went and bought sexy top that is about 2 sizes too small for me. The goal is to wear it on our anniversary when my husband is taking me on a big night out. Right now the top is hanging in my living room so I see it every day. It's my "Itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny, yellow pok-a-dot bikini," from the yogurt commercial. Except it's red and it's not teeny weeny, but I look forward to wearing it.
I bought clothes out of necessity but also as a reward. After 20 pounds I got a pedicure. When I hit my goal, I got a new hair cut and highlights.
Most likely I will have a massive splurge on clothes i have always wanted when I get to a weight I am happy with. No point in wasting my money just now. I cant wait to get the clothes I like rather than only being able to get something with multiple XL's
Im going to be so trendy haha.
Just knowing I reached my goal will be a reward in its self. Working so hard and for so long to achieve something and then actually doing it...is just so amazing. I will be content with just that. Also to be able to wear a bikini my man got me before I gained all of the weight and never had the chance to wear. I will wear that damn thing this summer! ;)
I set quarterly goals - but I'm not sure yet what the rewards will be for each. Hopefully a new outfit in a new size, if I'm successful!
It's hard because money is tight right now. There are so many things that I want to do when I lose weight, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford it.
One thing I do want to do is a day trip with my husband and 2 year old son. Anything that was previously difficult or embarrassing because of my weight will work. A day in San Francisco, at the beach, at a Theme Park... that kind of thing.
I definitely work harder when I have an awesome reward waiting for me
So far I have achieved a few of my goals:
-10 pounds: LV coin purse/ keychain
-20 pounds: new LV bag (Neverful GM) =)
my next goal is to lose 30 pounds total, before my birthday (late March) and I am going to Mexico for spring break, so hopefully my reward will be some new bathing suits to wear on the beach =)
At first I didn't set rewards for certain goals obtained- but as I went along they kinda just fell into place. My first reward (30 lbs) was my Christmas present from the hubby- new hair cut, nails, massage. Then 1 week later I won 2nd place in a biggest loser contest and won $200. So I got a puppy and put down a deposit at my house for him with the money (I can't wait till he is old enough to go on jogs with me). Then my friend told me that when I get to 150 lbs (40 more lbs.) she is going to buy me a $100 pair of jeans. It is a total motivator because I think the most I have ever spent on a pair of jeans is like $28. My final reward when I get to my final goal weight of 137lbs. is to go to Hawaii and visit my best friend. She has no idea I have been losing weight and I can't wait to be o.k. in shorts or even (gasp) a bathing suit. I already have over half of the money in a savings account for my Hawaii goal. When I have kept the weight off for 5 years I plan on getting reconstructive surgery to fix my already saggy tummy and my droopy boobs.
I'm going to Madrid in March and my reward for losing the first five pounds was a travel book about Madrid. I figured I'd get it at the end of January. I was oh so close to the five pound mark and then inexplicably went up one week. This past week I finally got past hte five pound mark (and out of the 200s) and I am getting that book! I have been searching the internet for Madrid things but it will be wonderful to have the travel book to mark up and have to read in bed, etc.
I am trying to think of goals that don't involve mass consumerism.
I will be buying some new clothes =] and knowing that I made it to my goal after not being in that weight class since Grade 9 will be amazing!! =]

Your wedding date will be my 9 year anniversary :D.
I personally don't reward myself except by looking at old pictures and looking in the mirror. Seeing how I am now is reward enough. YMMV. I think work out dvds and spa treatments are fantastic ideas.
Hows this for a backwards reward.
Soon as I lose all the weight I put on - I'm going to get pregnant and start over again! hahaha

That's awesome. I haven't met many people with Oct. 3, not even on the wedding website I belong to, there are a lot of 10/10 which was going to be my wedding date originally but then we moved it up. Congrats on 9 years!

That is a backwards reward but definitely a rewarding capability us women have! It's great that you are thinking about getting healthy first.
We won't be having kids for another few years so I figured I'd get healthy and maintain that way when we do have the kids I'll be equipped with the proper tools and know how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and teach them right.
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
