Rice!!! I'm confused!
I'm guessing this has already been discussed somewhere but I can't find an answer either here or on Google:
Does anyone know how many calories there are in one uncooked cup of brown rice once it has been cooked? Hope that makes sense! The packaging confused me somewhat.

There are the same calories in a cup of uncooked rice after it is cooked. The difference is that the volume will now be 2 or more cups. All that you've added to the rice is water.... which doesn't contain any calories.
Similarly, dried fruit has more calories and nutrients per 100g than the original fresh fruit. Because the water has been removed.

If I can I try to measure the dry uncooked food. different people like different amount of firmness or softness. thick rolled oats takes up less volume than watery -gruel like porriage. That is why if you are really serious to figure out if you are eyeballing too often you should get a scale. Weigh it before and after cooking if you wish to be superaccurate

1 cup of raw brown rice is 685, according to an entry here on CC, and as gi-jane pointed out, it'll be the same number after it's cooked, only it'll be several cups.
According to my package directions on Shoprite brand..natural long grain brown rice..3/4 cup cooked is 150 calories..fat 1g, calories from fat 10, salt 100mg, carbs 32g, fiber 1g, protein 3g. Hope this helps
