I am thinking of getting one of these. If you have one...would you recommend it? What brand? How long does it take to cook?

I have one - the brand is Salter. They work well and take just as long as cooking the rice on the stove. You just don't have to watch it or worry about it boiling over etc.
Sometimes I set mine on a light timer and plug it in, turn it on and then I can go out and come home to cooked rice. That works well with a crock pot dish that needs a side of rice. :)

Do they clean-up easy?
Our rice cooker is really convenient. It takes about 30 minutes to make 2 servings of rice, but we only have to plug it in on the counter and wait for it to cook, so it keeps the stove clear. Ours has a removable bucket that's easy to clean. If you have an asian market where you live, check it out. The rice cookers at our asian market were half the price of elsewhere.
I have a very old Japanese model that works prefect but I have given up using expect for really big batches of rice. Instead I use my electric pressure cooker to make rice. Well rice, barley, steel cut oats, beans...etc.
I could not live without my rice cooker my daughter loves it because she can have rice in about 15 minutes and clean up is nice and easy for i have a removable nonstick pan that is easy to clean......i have a large one and like i said i could not live without it......makes it and when done it automatically goes on warm so it keeps it warm which is nice........its made by Salton
The good thing about rice cookers is you an also steam vegies in them or make soups. They're pretty awsome
Oooh I want one too.
I've only heard good things about them, maybe we should both get one. :D

Pampered Chef has a really nice Microwave Rice Cooker.. it works like a charm for the first time in my life I can now cook fluffy rice...it cooks in a bout 20 min or so.. but I let it sit an extra 5 in the microwave. I have made vegies and works as a nice soup cooker also.

I don't care if it's electric or microwavable, I just want a rice cooker! I'm very bad at making rice on my own (usually comes out either burnt or soupy :-( ), so a gadget that takes out the guesswork seems really helpful!
