rice question (again)

Quote  |  Reply

okay its me that girl tahts scared of rice but is forced to eat it every night 400 cals at LEAST b/c our tradition calls it rude to have leftover rice and w/e..... my family has a tendency to be overweight b/c they dont know portion size and stuff, but i'm willing to learn.

anyways, when the calculator says 1 cup of rice, do they mean 1 cup PACKED of rice ORRRR 1 cup just.. flimsy airy cup of rice? and does itmatter if the rice is STICKY or NOT???

and i'm still confused with the whole 1cup thing.
okay so...
1/2 cup = 1 serving of grains.
1 tennisball = 1 cup.
1 tennisball= 2 serving of grains.
I eat about 2-4 cups of rice for dinner........ which is like ALOT.......
***so i wanna make sure.... tennis ball is 1 cup or 1 serving of rice?.... did i get the above wrong or soemthing?
the whole 1 cup thing is still confusing me..... 1 cup=  tennsiball.... tennisballs are tiny... i eat so much rice calories :(... no wonder i'm fatty appleshape....

should i sneak more water into my mom's ricemaker thing to make it look like more but they're just rice puffed up?????

bweehhehee

More water won't puff the rice up, it will make it soggy or even soupy.

I've missed the previous threads from you. Have you spoken to your mother about portion control and reducing the number of servings cooked for each meal?

If you are insecure about the amount I would suggest instead of using a cup, buy a food scale and weigh it, this will always be accurate and you never need to worry anymore. On the lable next to the cup amount there is also the amount in grams, so I suggest to buy a digital foodscale that you can set to grams and tadaaaaa, you got the right count every time!!

I never liked the whole measuring with cups and spoons thing, because sometimes you are able to cram in more than another time, you can't cheat with weighing though!!!
