How to get rid of a Double chin!?!

Quote  |  Reply
Anyone have any exercises to get rid of a double chin? I have inherited the wonderful double chin from my mother's side of the family. I've lost weight off my face, but the chin is still there! Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is no way to lose the double chin, except by losing weight.  AND - some people just naturally have more skin under the chin.

If you are a healthy weight, and still have the chin, the only way to get rid of it is liposuction, unfortunately!
You say you've lost weight in your face...I'm going to go ahead and bet that you chin is a lot more noticable to you than anybody else.

I've only lost 15lbs and I didn't really notice a change in my face but some of my coworkers told me it looked thinner :) So just keep at it.....don't go for lipo its not worth it!!!
Thanks for the advice everyone. I've lost 17.5 pounds as of today, and most of it has come off of my stomach and butt. People have noticed a difference already.. especially because I am 5'2 3/4.. when you gain it shows and when you lose it shows too. Congrats on the 15 lbs Scrlt!
Basically like shayna said. And unless you are over 30 years old, I won't recommend doing lipo for your double chin. When you are younger or still young, skin has more ellasticity and by caring and nourishment (drink water, enough vitamins etc) chances are skin on that area will tighten up again. Plus if you are still losing weight/fat, chances are you will eventually shed the fat there as well.

Congrats to you to lec :) I think its kind of funny how everyones bodies are different....for me the fat seems to melt off my face and neck but somedays it feels I haven't lost an inch of my stomach :( lol. We will all get there eventually.
maybe chewing gum? my friend said her mom doesn't want her chewing gum cuz it makes the jaw muscles work too much. so maybe that would help tone up your chin? i dunno, just a thought.
My mom hoped that when she quit smoking and starting chewing nicotine gum it would tighten her double-chin.  Unfortunately, it did not seem to help her at all.
Ok, this is going to sound really weird, but I MAY have a solution.   I don't know if this is total nonsense, but it can't hurt to try, right???  Well, I found this old yoga book that was written in the 1970's and in it they had these exercises for tightening the face for a youthful look.  Basically, you have to open your mouth really wide and stick your tongue out and all the way down as if you're trying to touch your tongue to your chin.  Yes, you will look really funny doing this, but you will definetly feel like you are working all of your facial muscles.  Your neck and chin will also tense up.  If you hold this position for like 10 seconds each time (do it like 5 times throughout the day), you may feel and see a difference!!!!!
I actually saw the book about facial workout. I don't know if it works coz i never tried it. So if anyone is going to and do it as instructed, keep me posted on the progress.
haha, I actually have been doing it since I found the book several  years ago.   I'm only 24, but I think it maybe works.  You definetly feel your face muscles working and tensing up.
It was suggested to me by my personal trainer to tilt my head back, open my mouth slightly and slowly thrust my chin forward (bottom lip toward the ceiling) until there was tention.  Hold it for a few seconds and slowly release.  He suggested to do it when I go to the bathroom or when a commercial comes on the television.  It sounds silly, but it tones and firms that wobbly chin!!  I hope this works for you, too!
i have your answer!  You're supposed to look at the ceiling and go AEIOU AEIOU AEIOU over and over.  That tightens up the muscles. :)

A good posture is yet another way to help you get rid of a double chin. Sitting up straight and keeping your jaw slightly jutted during the day is going to keep that double chin away. Hey, that rhymes! Giving your jaw muscles too much slack is going to ensure that body fat and loose skin starts to accumulate there. There are ergonomic chairs like the one I have here that will ensure you sit up straight while you work. Chewing sugar-free gum is a great way to help maintain good hygiene and stave off a double chin. Keeping your jaw and facial muscles moving and working is the key to preventing the build up of excess fat and loose skin. The muscles in your face responsible for keeping your jaw line tight are the same muscles that you use to chew and make facial expressions—chewing gum and making facial expressions will help retain that jaw line. Exercising the muscle we call the platysma is the most recommended exercise for getting rid of a double chin. To exercise this muscle, open your mouth wide, pull your bottom lip over your bottom teeth, and then work your jaw up and down as if you were trying to scoop something up with your lower jaw. This is called the shovel, and you look like a moron doing it, but eventually you’ll start to notice a difference if you stick to a daily routine.

But the AEIOU  looking at the ceiling feels like it does more to me. Tongue out (edited to add comment)

*laughs*

I can just imagine the scores of people looking up at the ceiling saying "AEIOU" (myself included!)

like a chant from a mysterious cult!

Limit your salt intake.  You're prob already doing this anyway but re-visit your daily intake & see if you can cut more out.
