Getting rid of that hungry feeling
What foods do you eat so you don't feel so hungry? Which foods have you found that are low in calories but filling?
Not low in calories but better than junk food, nuts. I prefer pistachios but have recently enjoyed the drop in the price of almonds. Fat does sate your appetite and I believe it's healthy to enjoy nuts.
Often to make a dinner feel big and bountiful, I heat up V8 juice and drink it like soup.
I drink tea. :]
No sugar, just good ol' milk and water.
Also, hot chocolate. I found one that is only 67cal a serve (minus milk...). These are for those times when I know I shouldn't be eating, but my tummy is all "feeeeeeed me." They fill you up and tide you over until mealtime.

I should try drinking more tea. I can't drink mine without sugar, but I don't add milk either.
I try to avoid chocolate as much as possible, it makes my boyfriend ill.
Maybe I'll try that....I still haven't eaten hummus yet so I have no idea if I like it.
Carrots with salt...takes care of my crunchy/salty cravings in the late afternoons.
Well, after dinner I'll sometimes have peanut butter toast (I know, not the best option, but only maybe 1 or less tbsp of peanut butter, just enough to lightly coat it... the serving size says 2 tbsp). Sometimes I might do a bowl of cheerios or a banana as a snack.
Tonight I was at my calorie limit. So, I went for a jog instead and came back and had a 200 calorie protein shake, so it kind of evens out. If you exercise, you NEED to eat more food to fuel your body (healthy food mind you). I use to burn at least 1500 calories when I use to hit the gym (2-3 hour full body work outs), if that puts things in perspective. You can't maintain that with a 1500 calorie a day diet or you'll kill yourself or something.
Also, if you aren't already, you should SNACK! I always bring healthy snacks to work to munch on a couple hours before and after lunch. That way I'm never hungry. I eat my ~1900 calories per day and space it all out as best I can. Fruits, unsalted nuts, and veggies make great snacks, although if you snack on nuts, moderate them a bit since they pack a lot of calories (they are good for you though). I love unsalted pecans and they fill you up fast.
Well, then again... that's a guy's perspective.
nuts make me feel fuller. also, apples/oranges/pears/most fruit. if i snack on bready stuff it makes me MORE hungry, even if i pair it with a far like pb.
TONS of water --> a lot of times your body will mistake thirst for hunger so I always have a bottle of water on me and I drink at list 6 a day.
Apples
Special K Meal Bars - high in protein and pretty filling. 170 cals. The choc chip ones totally fulfill my chocolate cravings too, they are yummy.
Watermelon --> you can eat a ton of it and not have taken in many calories at all! 1 wedge is only 86 cals.
I hear oatmeal is wicked good for being filling and healthy, but i've never liked oatmeal.
A lot of the time, when you think you're hungry, your body actually needs water. So try drinking a glass when you get that feeling.
Also, I recently read an article that noted a study: women who ate 3 pears a day consumed fewer calories and lost more weight becuase of the fiber. So if you eat a pear for breakfast, and then one before lunch and dinner, you'll fell more full, so you'll eat less during your bigger meals!
THe articla (posted below) also lists grapefruit, chocolate, almonds and navy beans, though I think I'll pass on the latter. :)

Hope this helps some of you!! It helped me - and they are SO yummy!! FYI - pears (and all thin skinned/no-skinned fruits) are extremely susceptible to harmful pesticides and growth hormones - so it's best to buy organic or locally.
I don't get really hungry since I bring about 3-4 healthy snacks with me along with a low calorie lunch (salad, tomato soup, whole wheat pasta w/veggies) I'm eating about every two to three hours depending on if I'm hungry or not. My snacks are unsweetened applesauce, apple w/1 tsp peanut butter, nonfat yogurt, baked pita chips, a boiled egg or two with salt and pepper (and only eat the white part), a slice of lowfat ham, banana, popcorn (I pop mine on the stove with a tiny bit of olive oil and shake some garlic salt on it). I hope this helps!
Afriend introduced me to hummus . . good stuff! I would really like to have a recipe for homemade.
broccoli and carrots cooked with a little oyster sauce (it's a chinese thing.) i love snacking on it when my mum makes it, and it's only 30cals for a huge plate!
actually, any vegetable or fruit will make a great low cal snack. (:
