What type of Exercise Program should I go under to lose the man boobs?

I know I'm not a guy... but my weights teacher last year said the best way to tone up your chest is to lift weights and do pushups. I'm sure someone on here knows better, though...
Try chest presses. I'm a girl and I do them, but, I know they tone your shoulders and chest.
My children refer to these as 'moobs' !
I am a girl too but press ups have lifted my chest to quite an extent. I don't do full press ups but the ones I do (half press ups) seem to be working!
Sometimes this condition can be caused by a medical condition. Also marijuana smoking can cause this. If its not due to an underlying disease/ condition and just from weight losing the weight will help. Then of course strengh training weights will help define them more for manliness.
If it is a medical condition breast reduction surgery is one option.

I read health related articles an a website that has an article on the topic you've brought up!! Here's the link:

Heavy bench presses is allm you need and you need to also lose the bodyfat. Try and do about 9-12 sets of excercises for your chest. mix up the excercises and the rep schemes. you should 3-4 excercises with one doing 8 reps, one doing 10-12 reps and the other 12-15 reps. Just work it once a week and you will start to notice the differance.
Yeah, I want to ditch my man boobs too. Lose of fat is the only way to get rid of it unless you have gyne, and I will see if my doctor will check me for that when I go in for my next physical. I still have about 30lbs to lose, so hopefully they keep shrinking with the rest of my fat loss.
Anyone remember the seinfeld show with the "bro"? Bra for men.....

I think the only thing you can do is lose fat overall, but, if you've done that, then the incline bench press is excellent. Also, pectoral flys work the chest. I use dumbells on both exercises and enough weight so that I can do between 12-15 reps.
And 'the bro/Manssiere' was awesome...

Hello,
Sometimes this can be caused by a medical condition called gynecomastia. Men will have enlarged breast that can look similiar to women. Sometimes men also produce too much estrogen which can cause enlarged breasts. You may want to speak to a doctor.

bro/manzere. i love seinfeld.
Weightlifting did it for me. I have lost 66 lbs so far. I don't have a sculpted chest, but I no longer have man boobs. lol. Don't let your ego get in the way of going to the gym. That was my downfall for years. Good luck.
There is no such thing as spot-reduction, once you start shedding the pounds those man boobs should shrink bonerhead.
While there may not be 100% guaranteed spot-reduction, there is a lot of positive proof out there that specific exercises targeting the legs, chest and arms will reduce fat there by it being converted over to muscle. I've seen it happen in countless people including myself. The really serious problem areas though are hard to target but even though men put weight on their stomachs first I have managed to do a lot of core work that has taken an inch or more off that area each week. Infact the last 2 weeks was 3 full inches. So though spot-reduction isn't guaranteed or even spoken of ... it isn't a myth either as it does work for some people.
Getting rid of "Man Boobs" is the main reason why I started working out myself, it's really embarassing, especially when you consider I used to be really buff in the arms. I have been doing various arm exercises like push ups, pull downs, chest presses, flyes, and some other things my machine has and they have raised up a lot, they're still there but not as noticeable anymore, and I'm keeping at it. I think the reason they haven't 'completely' dissappeared is because I was doing pure weight training before instead of also trying weight loss (Which was my goal actually haha), hopefully now that I'm also targetting weight loss, it further takes them out.
It's kind of weird though because now my stomach appears to stick out even more, but I'm sure it's because now that looks like the only thing that sticks out haha, I'm going to keep at it, and take a look at those links.

Guys.. it's not just about the exercise.. it's about hormones. What you need to do is improve your hormonal state, get out of sugar burning mode, get into fat burning mode and increase Testosterone.
Exercise is critical, but it has to be done in the hormonally correct way.
You want to increase testosterone, and lower estrogen. Diet plays a huge role in all this.
I've been writing about it for a while now on my blog. The first post on the subject is here:
http://www.formerfatguy.com/weblog/2007/06/na tural-hormone-enhancement-carb.asp
This post and the ones that follow explain how to switch from sugar burner (carb based) to fat burner and then stay there to maximize Testosterone output naturally by your body. Then follow the correct exercise program to match it.
I do also want to point out that there are a lot of correct suggestions in the thread above. You can't spot reduce, you have to work the entire body and lose fat from the entire body. Don't just work the chest. If your goal it to burn body fat, you have to increase metabolism, thermogenics and your body's hormone state so it will in fact burn fat instead of sugar. Working the legs for example burn more fat than working the chest because it's much more taxing on your body. Same with working your back muscles. Both Legs and back demand so much from your body in the form of repairing, that the process of rebuilding that muscle burns a lot of fat. Work the chest to balance things out, but don't FOCUS on the chest.
Chrisrai hit the nail on the head in that post above. Legs.
plus chest, plus back, plus the correct amount of recovery time
don't train every day, but rather 3 or 4 times a week with at least a day between. This part is critical.
when you train, you experience cortisol release due to the stress. Then over the next 24 to 48 hours, you rebound with lots of Testosterone. If you trained two days in a row, you'd interupt that Testosterone Blast and in it's place add cortisol again, never getting any farther ahead.
instead, train a day, take a day off, then train again.
this only works if you're in fat burning mode though, and to do that, just have a look at the link here and follow along.
Just so you know who I am.. I once weighed 475 pounds then went on to drop 300 of that. Then I put on over 60 pounds of lean muscle. The pictures are on the site above, plus at my new blog http://www.formerfatguyblog.com .
I don't want to say it's easy, but it's "easier" when you know what to do.

I read a review of this problem which offers a few options of treatment. Chekc it out on http://squidoo.com/how-to-get-rid-of-your-man -boobs
Just an fyi - fat does not "convert" to muscle.
The chest exercises with weights are great suggestions as is cardio. Cardio will aide in shrinking fat cells. If you are indeed just overweight and don't have a medical condition, creating a program of weight strengthening and cardio is your best bet.
You may however, want to just talk to your doctor to rule out any medical issues and also discuss your plan for weight loss.
