How do you get rid of that stuff around your waist.

D: You all know what I mean...when your pants are just a wee tight, or EVEN, OR EVEN a perfect fit. There is still that bit of blob sticking out. Even if you aren't incredibly fat, you just don't have the ~skillz~ to keep it off.

Now how.

If there was blob sticking out the top of my pants, I certainly wouldnt consider them to be a perfect fit.  I'd work on losing a couple pounds and toning up. Eat less/better (depending on what youre eating habits are) and workout more.

goddess: T__T well not a huge blob..

Buy bigger pants? Tongue out

Seriously though, most everyone has a bit of a blob, even nice slim girls (and if that's you in your profile pic it looks like you fit into that category). It's probably best to work on getting a more comfortable overall shape rather than trying to focus on one particular trouble spot.

Anyway, from my blob to yours, I feel your pain. Smile

hannah: Fufufu ^__^;; that's not me, it's haren. <3

But YEAH that's what I mean, thank you. -__-'' that blob that EVERYONE HAS except for the peeps with the side abs. x__x

LOLOL, ty hannah, my blobs says. My comfort shape will be more around less blob and more lean muscles.

ok- so that blob has a name.............its called a stomach:) seriously, the size of your stmach has everything to do with what/how much you've eaten and have drank. notice............if you have something to bloat you, like lots of fruit or diet soda, yor gut wll be much bigger.

trust me on this one! im the queen of bloated stomachs! im terribly thin, i look skeletal (on a mass gain diet, no worries) but my stomach is HUGE! i cant even wear oants because by the time i get them to fit around my waist, you wouldnt even be able to find legs and a butt if you tried.

the way to downsize though would be to work on toning, you dont need to loose weight!! in fact, if you were to tone and gain some hot muscle mass, youd weigh more, but LOOK smaller!! also, i try to avoid foods that bloat, starches, too much fiber, eccess liquids, etc.

most of all.........just dont worry too much about it!!!

I've always been thick-waisted, even when I was in high school (many years ago) at my thinnest, I would get that little muffin top.

And now, at nearly 40, i am SO SO SO thankful for mid-rise jeans! (not LOW RISE!!)

jeans where the waist is a waistband and hits me right at the waistline just cuts that "blob" in half and makes it poke out even more!!  the mid-rise jeans hit me a bit below that pudge, which makes my waist smoother and not so lumpy and bumpy.

4hgirl: :O stomach? but it is on both sides? ;-; so confusing this stuff is...do you know what foods contain too much fiber/starch/excess liquids, btw? ^^; and how do you gain hot muscle mass? XD thank you for the input! ^^

sallen: xD well, i am not yet at 40. @__@ don't think i will make it to that age...u__u; i'm only 15. and i LOVE low rise jeans. xP to me, it makes it stick out less? @__@ cuz it just makes your torso longer and the 'muffintop' less noticeable?

that "blob" you speak of is called Muffin Top!

I believe it seriously has to do with the cut of the jeans, not you! u may experience this "Muffin Top" if you wear really low cut pants or hip-huggers......if it bothers you start doing some core exercises to get rid of it. Tone up the sides.

weight lifting is the only thing thats made my midsection firm and tight, and i hardly even do ab exercises.

ah the muffin top... ive never really been overweight or anything, and im very athletic, but after my first year of college i put on a lot and have been struggling to get rid of it lol... and that area has always been the toughest problem spot for me.

ive heard many times that the midsection is the most difficult/last place you will lose weight, especially for women, because our bodies are designed to retain the weight around our hips and waist... probably having something to do with the viability of our bodies to nurture during pregnanancy or something...

anyway i have been seeing some results on a 1500 calorie diet, but there is definitely no quick fix and 70% of your success is your diet, no matter how much exercise you do. i try to eat smaller meals throughout the day, beginning with some fruit and cereal in the morning and trying not to eat past 8pm... its hard bc im in college lol but if im hungry i just go to bed earlier- so i end up getting more sleep which is great for my body anyway...

the worst thing for me is that i LOVE my carbs, and i need them to feel full so that i dont binge and because i am very active... but i find that they will fill you up but at the same time give me that bloated feeling... i feel like i have a pretty poor metabolism, and there is a history of thyroid problems in my family, so i try to drink a lot of green tea and water and eat a lot of raw veggies and avoid processed foods, concentrating on eating more lean proteins (like chicken, bc i cant cut out meat with my activity level) and fewer carbs- or at least try to eat me carbs earlier in the day so they can be burned off later)

in terms of exercise, a big misconception is that doing loads of ab exercises will get rid of stomach flab- while it will tone those muscles, its still going to be really hard to see them under all the flab haha.. cardio is important too, if only to burn more calories, but just weight training other parts of your body, in addition to your core, will ultimately pay off by lifting your resting metabolic rate because you will build muscle that will in turn burn more calories at rest.

finally, i think the key is to be consistent about your calorie levels- which is what is so great about this website- eating 3000 calories one day, then trying to compensate by eating 500 the next day, will only teach your body to store more cals and slow down your metabolism bc it doesnt "know" how many cals its going to get each day...lol... so it becomes a preventative measure to store rather than burn your calories- this is why consistency is more effective than starvation- your body will get used to a regular intake and adapt the metabolism accordingly!

and i just wanted to share with everyone that im super pumped because i can fit into a size 27 again and that my 30s look like sweatpants :)

you can do it toooo! (and sallen... mid-rise jeans do wonders for me)

It's not a muffin top your not fat and some people can be just plain rude. I know exactly what your talking about and they're love handles. Cardio is your only friend in getting rid of it. Crunches and sit ups wont work that area. It's on your sides closer to your back then your "stomache" right? I work in a really tall building on the 9th floor so I climb the stairs everyday. Thats one of the best workouts to get rid of them, if you have a stadium at your school or a basketball court walking running either one whatever keeps your heart pumping for 30 minutes at least a day will get rid of them. Unfortunetly you wont see results for a month or two, which is with any type of dieting.

I get that too. When I focus a lot on doing sit ups and core excersises, even though it may not show (you would have to looks the fat/"flab" first in order to see any muscles) I can feel it and therefore I feel confident.  Strength training is great because you can feel yourself get stronger. Even though results aren't showing just yet you can still feel the difference.
