How do I get rid of the thigh fat? My thinghs have always touched :( :(
Current stats
I am 5 3, 21 and 130 pounds
Looking to be down to my old weight of 114. I gained the freshers 15 and some more yikes
But even when I was down to 112 pounds two years ago my things STILL touched. I hate it
I have been fat most of my life
I was an obese child
In high school i came down to 112 pounds.
Now in my last year at college I gained weight back. I am 130
I know it will be relatively easy for me to go down to 110-115 but what about the thighs
I have thunder thighs. They look horride
Hey there...
I'm 5'8'', got down to 136lbs last December, and yes, my thights still touched... Gained about 10lbs since then (trying to lose them :( ) and started taking my bike to go to work...
Well I'm now 5'8'', 145lbs...trying to lose 10lbs :'( but...my thights do not touch anymore, or barely. And I believe it is doing three hours of bike per day, up to five times a week, that got me there (I also think my 145lbs is due to, yes, fat, but also leg muscles :s)...(let's hope ^^ because with three hours of bike per day, I can't think I did NOT gain any muscle on the way :s...hahaha)
Well, hope it will help...
You have to lose fat generally...you wont be able to "spot reduce" your thighs. Work on having a healthy calorie deficit of about 500 calories and do cardio and strength training. Thats the only way. Work all your muscles...dont try spot...that way you'll build fat-burning muscle all over your body. There are leg exercise that will help build that muscle in your legs and thighs: squats, lunges are pretty good leg exercises. Just remember its a combination of exercise (cardio and strength) and diet that will reduce those thighs and overall body fat! Goodluck.
Hey there!
I feel your pain as I have the exact same problem. Even at my smallest weight I have always had thighs that touch. I'm a mere 5'1 and a horrid 135 pounds. Luckily it seems to sit in most of the right places as I dont look too bad but the thighs, oh dear the thighs! But I'm trying to get down to a healthy weight which may shift some of the thigh weight but I'm guessing any exercises that involve your thighs would tone and reduce them or maybe I'm getting the complete end of the stick here. I think I'm as lost as you are, with only my thunder thighs to hold onto eep!
in addition to dietary changes and being conscious of your caloric and nutritional intake, exercising daily or at least 5 days a week, minimum of 30 min of cardio (that makes you sweat, not a brisk walking cardio) and specific area exercises.
Whole body exercises are best, but for the buttock/thigh area I do squats, leg lifts both on my back and sides, pilatties (think I spelled that wrong), stretching calestenics. Also, there's merit in some of the TaiBo/kickboxing exercises. Anything that gets you to lift your legs and kick, high stepping, stair climbers, the stuff you'll hate the most is what helps the most.
You have to be honest to yourself and work hard every day and the difference is slow to come but before you know it you'll have to buy new clothing because yours won't look right all baggy on you. I'm 5'5" and started at 156 and am now down to 126, it's been over a year and I work hard every day, document what I eat and spend a minimum total of 1 hour a day exercising.
I hope that helps! ![]()
bike!! and squatts-with weights works well! Good Luck!
OMG I hate the touching thighs.. Mines has been touching for a life time.. I don't think I can every get rid of this problem.. My trainer has been working my legs out, and I just got them from like 33+ Inches down to like 28 inches.. And that was the hardest thing I had to ever do.. I am doing all kind of legs toning for a hour a 2 days a week. It will drive you crazy, but the work is well worth it just to not feel them rub together for once in my life.
I do all kind of workouts for the legs.. Here's my list.. They burn like hell, but it's worth the work.
I leg press 100 pounds at the gym 2 days a week 3 sets now of 5 = A total of 15
I do over 200 sqauts every other day.. 100-Every morning and 100- in the after noon.. I have to really go deep to get the burn..
I do 50 lunges.. I do these every morning walking up the hill.. I lunge that sucker.. I don't care what I do.. I feel these legs are not going to go anywhere..
I have use the pilates ring, and I squeeze that sucker over and over again. 25 reps 5 sets... Giving me 100 there..
I also do one legs sqauts.. 50 to 100 per leg.. These really work.
I do donkey kicks... 50 to 100 per leg.
I do Forgive the name.. I call it dog taking a pee.. 50 to 100 of these..
I don't do all of these within a week. I just pick a few from my list and use those for a few weeks, and then I change it up- but I am always lunging up the hill near my house.. I look nuts doing it, but I really don't care with 1 pound weight gloves on my hands.
Pick one and give them a try if you never done any of these before..
It also depends on the width of your hips too, I've seen some slim people whose thighs still touched!
Is everybody here out of touch (pun intended!) with reality?
Thighs touch. Period. If your thighs don't touch then you either are way too thin or you have a very very wide pelvis and slim legs, not a desirable sight. Actually, if you stand with your feet together your legs are supposed to touch at the thighs, knees, calves and ankles. And I mean touch, not press against each other squashed with excess fat.
Exercise helps to a point. Ballet dancers have near perfect bodies - albeit some are unhealthily thin-and you will see that their thighs touch, because toned thighs touch and that's how it should be.
If you are 5ft3 and 130 then you have a BMI of 23 and you are normal weight. If you want to lose a little weight do so slowly and sensibly, cut down on alcohol and exercise. A while ago I had to walk a very fast 15mins twice a day for catch a specific train and after a month my legs had improved a lot without me realising. So fast walking works. If nothing else, exercise will improve your mood and perhaps your thighs won't matter anymore.
If after all these you still feel there is a problem, then youcan't improve further with diiet and exercise.
I don't think she was picking on anyone. I said it before and I'll say it again: this thighs not touching thing is a ridiculous goal. There's another thread about this where I already posted. I used to be 117 lbs at 5'7" and my thighs touched. Was I too fat or something?
I too posted in the other thread that it was a silly goal, skinny girls with thighs of all sorts and all that.
I have skinny chicken legs, especially in the thighs (as my brother called them in high school) and work very hard to make them less so (yes I lift real, heavy weights, squats of all sorts etc...) but they still don't touch. My husband calls them my shotguns.
"I leg press 100 pounds at the gym 2 days a week 3 sets now of 5 = A total of 15Oh my...get thee to www.Stumptuous.com , asap. You're a hamster on a wheel, going nowhere fast. 1 pounds gloves on your hands? sister, that's not helping you at all. You've got the endurance of a racehorse, but you'll get no more muscle gains at all without weights.

I am 105 and 5'1" and my thighs touch.
I was 100 lbs and 5'1" just recently and my thighs touched.
Could they be firmer and more in shape? Definitely.
Will they ever not touch? Unlikely.
However, with squats, hip adductors, leg lifts I know I could tone the legs along with a cardio fat burning workout and probably look a million times better.

I've lost a lot in the thighs doing these, but you are right. Sometimes I do feel like a hamster on the wheel. The gloves helps my hands from going num. I've always walked with these on.. Thanks for the link I am going to check into it. As far as for the 100 legs press. I do those with my trainer at the gym. The pilate ring is used in a class at the gym... I do a lot of cardio. I've always had big thights.. When I started my diet in 2007 march 9.. I didn't lose a lot of weight in my tights after a year.. I've been at this stuff for like 3 months, and have now lost a total of 8 inches.. I was already 2 inches down before I started.. Now I am a 28 on the thighs. My hip to hip was 56 inches, and now I am a 45.. Somewhere this stuff and the right diet has to working. I do run the elliptical 3 days a week as well.. Thanks for the link.. It's time to stop feeling like a hamster on a wheel.
I will stay with the hamster program.. What works for me works for me. This link didn't show me anything.

It was posted by the same person....
this is almost like saying that your elbows shouldn't touch your side when you put your arms down straight... (not picking on those who have naturally not touching legs)
I think that thighs touching is really about how you are built - I'm 5'9" and when I'm standing with my feet and knees together, my thighs don't touch, but I'm not super skinny - I"m 161 lbs... it's just how I've always been - it's just how I'm built!!
I completely understand where you are coming from!!! I will definitely invest in a bike!!

Okay.. I will be okay with picking a few of these things I was doing. I will be that hamster on the wheel. I am losing inches with what I am doing. SO why stop now.. What works for me may not work for you. But this works for me..
Now, you're doing hundreds of lunges/squats/donkey kicks/dog leg lifts/ etc... and they're working for you. Excellent! But for how long? You're basically using your body weight as resistance and that worked fantastic when you were not as well conditioned, but now you're very well conditioned to the point where you have to really do a lot of these to feel anything. AND, you're losing weight...which means you actually have less body weight as resistance, so basically you're lifting lighter as you get more conditioned. Does that make sense?
I know you're doing leg presses, well done, but three sets of 5 at 100#? Even when i'm out of condition I can press 200-250#.
Just some food for thought.
