What I did right today... let's hear it!
I searched the threads a little and didn't find one that fit this, so I figured I'd throw it out there in the hopes of celebrating the baby steps. In my job, we work a lot on behavior change, and a big factor is creating a NEW behavior to replace the target behavior.
Yesterday I had a really bad eating day, and I was pretty down on myself. I really felt like I needed to turn it around in order to have a good day today. Anyway, at the end of the day, I realized I did do at least ONE thing right (and for me, it was HUGE): Someone came in with a fresh box of McDonald's fries (smelled so yummy) and offered all to me because she knew I love fries. What I did right was had just ONE and said, "Thanks! I'm good!"
I'm continuing the trend for today -- What I did right was to go to an all day training and NOT eat any sweets from the vending machine as an afternoon pick-me-up. I brought my own snacks AND turned down the soda.
So what did everyone else do right today???
good job the rest of you!
Beaukat -- nice job going sans soda or tea! I find that so hard! Sarahrdh, I LOVE skinny cow ice cream sandwiches --- way to go! And feddiechick, lining up a job interview is a GOOD THING!!! You don't have to be thinking diet all the time to do something right!
Nice job everyone!
Eatting wise; I took two tuna sandwiches from the cafeteria but only ate one! :)!
Mezzo it's okay. I understand about the class thing. I am always thinking about my schedule. I have already started debating about them for next year and this semester hasn't even started.![]()
I just started belly dancing which is something I have been wanting to do for a long time. It was fun. Can't wait to go back and I joined the National Body challenege which is going to be fun.
I've been wanting to restart belly dancing... maybe I should do it? your post motivates me, Tiegurl. lol ^_^
sarahrdh (and others)... I've been eyeing those skinny cow desserts for a long time and have a question or two:
1. Do they really taste like chocolate?
2. Are they really ice cream?
I saw them next to my favouritest fruit popsicles in the store and caved and bought the fruit popsicles (Raspberry/Mango del monte real fruit... low cal! WOO!)
Hmmm, I'm not sure if they are "really" ice cream or if it's frozen yogurt, but in sandwich form, I couldn't tell the difference. I think they do really taste like chocolate -- a good enough substitute for real chocolate ice cream anyway. Also, the chocolate peanut butter -- oh my gosh, SO GOOD. It's tough to find something that hits the spot when you want chocolate or ice cream or BOTH and these do.
Beaukat, low cal popsicles -- that sounds like a whole 'nother thing you did right!!!
I think I need to find a good cardio movement class like thing. Like bellydancing. Thanks for inspiring me for tomorrow!
Today I went out to buy fresh veggies, bread a hummus for a communal lunch we will have at the office.
I went by the fresh bread section , picked out steaming hot baggets that smelled (I'll let you use your imagination) and I didn't pick off the top of it on my way in...
Hope I can be equally strong at lunch...maybe I should treat myself to the end of the bagget at lunch and log it....how much would you log a 2 inch piece of bagget???
I had a stressful visit with the dr, found out I weigh ALOT more then I was guessing, 19 pounds more then I estimated, and that I had cracked a rib coughing due to this cold. My dr also brought up Weight loss surgury and my insurance wont pay for it. She strait out told me that she did not see how I could loose enough on my own to stay walking (I have arthritis in my knees) without surgury.
BUT even though the whole way home I thought of all the goodies I wanted to indulge in, even though I literally almost turned into the store (blinker on and everything) and almost went to a fast food place, I went home and had ONE 100 calorie peanut butter cookie snack pack with a Sugar Free pudding cup.
I did not have a perfect day, I ate more then I really needed but I also did not go over 2000 calories today so that is good.
Thanks Feddiechick. Yes, you should do it especially if you have an awesome teacher. My teacher was awesome. She was so sweet, energetic, and cute although I was envious of her abs. Primadonna98 I say go for it.
Yeah, I like the National Body Challenge too. I am going to go to Bally's and my school gym since Bally's is free for eight weeks and my school gym is just free.
Beaukat go for the skinny cows. They are so good. I second the chocolate peanut butter sandwhich. They are good. My mom even likes them and she doesn't like "diet" foods.
TrinaXXL good job with not giving in. I say prove your doctor wrong. I think you can do it and if you know you can do it than go for it. Just take it step by step.
Im trying really hard to cut back.
I have one for yesterday and one for the day before.
Yesterday the thing I did right was did NOT give in to my comfort food craving (I have a pretty icky cold/flu/crud thing going on.) I gave the leftover mashed potatoes a long desperate glance, but then I sucked it up and closed the fridge. Yay me.
And the day before I switched from 1% milk to 1/2% and got no flack from the DH or from any of the children. It has taken me 2 years to wean the kids down from whole milk (after 15 years with an ex who would ONLY allow whole milk in the house ...)
So I'm feeling pretty good about that.
Today I managed to NOT buy a packet of biscuits for the office despite staring at them for a full 15 minutes, but instead went for a walk and ate some low-fat mini pretzels instead.
I also forced myself to go to the pool and swim 35 lengths. ![]()
Last night I went grocery shopping and can't even count how many times I picked up something yummy looking, looked at the calories, debated a little, then put it back.
Today I resisted a large box full of HUGE pastries sitting in the office kitchen. I went and looked and them, and they didn't even LOOK good to me. I am also walking to my co-workers offices instead of calling or emailing them.
